My husband and I stayed at the Wyndham San Diego Bayside a couple of days before boarding our cruise in April of 2019. The location of the hotel is perfect for cruises! We just walked across the street to begin the boarding process. Our hotel room was very nice. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the sunset right in front of the hotel each evening.

I stayed only one night and was next to the elevators, but the view of the harbor was very nice. The building is a bit old looking but interior was clean. Room service was efficient and food was tasty. Everyone was nice and helpful.

"Not worth the money"

Reservation was wrong and while it was ultimately fixed for 2 of the 3 nights of our stay it was a hassle and we were blamed for the mistake and even told phone records would be pulled to prove what I was saying about making a reservation for a bayside view. The rooms were REALLY small, we were downgraded to 2 queen room for the first night having booked a 3 night stay with a king bayside room. No credit was given for the double room the first night because we were told the bayside rooms cost more and we were switched even though when I placed the reservation I BOOKED a bayside view. Lighting in bathrooms was virtually non-existent, no one reassured us or made contact when the earthquake hit Saturday night. Lines were long because of a holiday weekend at check in. What looked like at least a 6 person counter had 3 clerks and one wasn’t available because she was a “dedicated” airport clerk. So she did nothing while everyone waited for another clerk to be available. The parking area out front was a complete NIGHTMARE! Even though valet was available, it was nearly impossible to get to the front of the hotel long enough to park just to unload our bags at check in. The bed the last 2 nights had a dip in the center and needed to be flipped if not completely changed out. Not sure if ClaimJumpers is affiliated with the hotel but that was awful too. Watered down drinks and completely wrong order and zero flavor food. When I told your manager that if we couldn’t get a bayside change we would go to another hotel, he told me there were no other hotels in San Diego with a Marina view, which is complete nonsense! I called 4 hotels for pricing before booking here! We probably wouldn’t have that night, but there are other hotels in San Diego with ocean/marina views. Wyndham was the cheapest but certainly not the only one. Next time we come to San Diego we are bringing friends and renting a house DIRECTLY on the beach. Three couples at the right time of year and it is cheaper then your crappy rooms, with ability to cook, private parking and 50 steps to the beach. The only advantage to your hotel is location, being close to most site seeing and interesting locations in San Diego. If someone pays $300 plus dollars a night for a room, they should get more for their money than these rooms. I have stayed in nicer hotels for $60 a night.

Had an early morning flight and had to catch the 5 am shuttle. Got up at 4 am and no hot water! Because we were in a hurry, we took cold showers and when we checked out, I mentioned I to the front desk clerk. Told him for $250 a. Ugh, I expected hot water, his response was that I should’ve called maintenance because HE wasn’t in the room and didn’t know there was no hot water. Just a crappy attitude! Besides that, the hotel isn’t worth $250 a night! I’ll stay at the residence inn around the corner!

Front desk and service personnel were awesome. Took good care of all requests with facial smile. Made our vacation memorable one. If anyone is planning during busy schedule, then give the front desk a call ahead and ask them to note down your request.
