"not great"
July 2019
Way too many people, especially for a Thursday. They just pushed and shoved their way around the park. Super long wait times to do rides. Won't be going back. Not worth it.

It was an excellent trip. Our entire family had a great experience in Universal Studios. We enjoyed Tour, Set stores, pet training, sound and animation details, etc . Food is not costly inside, except that all are all really good and honest.

Went for partners bday. Got there for opening and managed to do all rides plus a show & studio tour throughout the day (without any kinds of fast passes) so it wasn't insanely busy! Make sure to do all of lower lot in one go so not having to travel back and forth down long escalators. HIGHLY recommend doing the studio tour -lasts an hour...super cool

"STUCK ON RIDE!"

My girlfriend, sister, and I visited Universal Horror Nights on October 5, 2019. We spent around $200 for EACH ticket with the express pass. For anyone visiting Horror nights- LET ME TELL YOU... If you don't get the express pass, you might as well not go. Wait times were up to two hours at some mazes... a few of the mazes were NOT worth the 2 hour wait. Wait lines were insane and you most likely would only get through a few mazes out of all the mazes and rides available. Universal Studios should think about their visitors and limit the ticket sales for satisfaction of their customers. That's just a tip, my actual review is when we were stuck on a the Transformers 4-D ride up in the air for about 40 minutes! Our ride malfunction, jerked all of us, and left us in the air for about 40 minutes if not longer. All the light turned on and we heard an automated voice telling us to stay put as they were working on the ride. I cannot explain how much of an inconvenience and scary it was for us. Of course we all pulled out our phone and recorded the situation... Once the ride started moving a little we heard a female worker yelling at us not to worry and that we would all be taken care of. You will not believe what she told us... Everyone on the ride was offered the express fast pass, plus another opportunity to ride the Transformers 4-D ride again through out the night... As you know, we already had the express pass so we told the worker, she said "great so you guys are already taken care of". I was in disbelief... and thought to myself, Who took care of us? WE TOOK CARE OF OUR OWN EXPRESS PASS TICKET for $117 EACH. While everyone else that got stuck just like us was given the express pass. We were not okay with that so we waited to talk to the supervisor at the ride site for about 15 minutes (WASTED MORE TIME) and GUESS WHAT WE WERE OFFERED? He stated that there was not much they could do since we already had the express pass, so the most they could do was offer us "$10 food vouchers each anywhere in the park"... If anyone has every been to ANY theme park you would KNOW that you cannot get a whole meal with $10... I'd be lucky if i could get a bottle water and bag of chips. WHAT A JOKEEEE! We still did not take the offer. #1 we did not plan on eating the overpriced unsatisfying food at the park and we had late night dinner reservations (that we DID NOT MAKE IT TO b/c of everything that happened). The supervisor ended up telling us we could go talk to Guest Services and let them know what happen for them to assist us. We got to guest services and there was a few people in front of us, we waited for at least 30 minutes. TONS of people complaining about wait times, a few people trying to get free tickets, a few people trying to get refunds... WASTED A WHOLE HOUR (which is why we missed our dinner reservations on top of the time spent stuck in the ride and discussing $10 food vouchers). At guest services we had the pleasure of speaking to robot Emily Mclaughlin. We explained the entire situation to her, told her how scary and traumatized we felt in stuck in the ride, how much of an inconvenient it was for us and our plans, how everyone in the ride received express passes that we bought for FREE, how we missed our dinner reservations, how we were offered $10 food vouchers, and how ALL of the lines for the rest of our nights were filled with people that were offered the free express passes that made our lines longer which wasted more of our time. She said she could not do anything for us except offer us the $10 food vouchers and a few express passes for only a FEW rides our next visit. We LIVE IN TEXAS... Was it because we didn't complain enough? or make a scene like everyone else in guest services? Some of them received drinks, some of them got to go back and sit in the lounging room while the guest relations associate assisted them. We had to leave so i requested Emily to email me our offers and case #. I never received anything. We were denied the refund for our express pass that everyone got for free. TERRIBLE SERVICEEEE!

Got there just before 9am before the gate opened. Go to the lower lot first to do mummy ride, jurassic world ride(be aware you get wet!!) and transformer ride as not much waiting time!! Then go to upper lot to do Harry Potter ride as it is very popular and other rides and shows. Its good to download the universal studio hollywood app as it tells you all the show times and waiting time for each ride. The waiting time gets update consistently.. The special effect show and waterworold show are great but make sure you check the show time first thing. There are lots characters around for you to take photos with. Always check the website before you visit the studio as the opening time is different everyday for some reason, someday is 9am and other day is 10am.
