Dining options at Disney's Port Orleans Resort French Quarter include a restaurant and a coffee shop/café. A poolside bar is open for drinks. Room service is available during limited hours. The 1008 air-conditioned guestrooms at Disney's Port Orleans Resort French Quarter feature coffee/tea makers and safes. Rooms are all accessible via exterior corridors. Bathrooms feature shower/tub combinations, complimentary toiletries, and hair dryers. Wired high-speed and wireless Internet access is complimentary. Guestrooms offer multi-line phones with voice mail. Televisions have cable channels. Rooms also include ceiling fans and blackout drapes/curtains. Lovely resort but check-in took forever....only one person at the front desk and she was helping someone change their room which seemed it was causing complications. So we waited and waited and the line behind us got longer and longer, finally a second person came out to help. This was not an off hour, it was 5pm there should have been more help. Second issue was paper thin walls....the room next to us was unoccupied and housekeeping left the TV on, as ours was on when we got in. We had to listen to Disney music from the TV next door all night, can’t imagine if people were next door. This is ok for a short stay but nothing longer given the paper thin walls.

We stayed at the Riverside but we highly recommend eating at the French Quarter or taking the boat to Disney Springs. The soda machines at the Riverside are outdated offering a limited selection of drinks compared to other Disney resorts.

Okay I have mixed reviews for this location. We were put in a “Garden View” handicap room as an “upgrade”. This was our first stay at this particular resort at Disney. Please note that we have been going every year since 2009, so we are not Disney Newbies per say. However we haven’t stayed at this resort, and decided to take a couples only trip for a week. I looked up deals, and this one fit the bill for Christmas time. So we decided to travel a day earlier than our planned trip, and stayed on Disney Vacation Club points one night at Old Key West, so I ended up booking a cash stay at this resort at the same time through my DVC membership (this has relevance with a ‘situation’ later, I promise). So we had an amazing night at OKW, and went to check in here at POFQ. We had a late check in at the last resort, and happened to arrive at the right time at this resort they very next morning. The man checking us in was wonderful, and entertaining. He said they originally had us in a hearing impaired room, but if we didn’t mind switching they could put us in a room ASAP. So we didn’t question it. We went to our room, and the bathroom was enormous for a moderate resort. But there were two shower-heads. One was high, like a normal shower and the other was mobile. The beds were to the ground, so no storing our luggage underneath as we saw in other YouTube videos. Then it occurred to me, we were in a handicapped accessible room. We don’t have a need for any handicap accommodations regarding rooms. No hearing impairments, and no wheelchair or mobility issues. We went to the front desk and this is when they informed us that it was an upgrade. Honestly the corner rooms looked nicer, had two windows and double sinks, the handicap one has one sink and terrible water pressure. The ambiance is stunning, the food was good, but they were actually stingy on portions at night. One night in particular a girl working the jumbo area just burst into tears, full on sobbing. I grabbed a cashier, who immediately went to her, and told a manager. The manager simply looked annoyed and continued caring for a guests refund, they he shoo’d her to the back. Kinda bison how he handled it. On a different night we tried the world famous beignets. We used snack credits. I wanted to love them but they were doughy. The area where you pick your beignets up was operated on young girls gossiping about another co-worker. I asked if my order was up, and they hadn’t dropped it (I was the only guest in there at that moment). We were highly disappointed. Again, the theme of the whole place was beautiful and excellent. Disney needs to focus on their cast. Then the clincher and aside from loving other resorts more, the main reason that I won’t be booking this resort again is because of an incident that happened (which I said an earlier statement about DVC would tie in). So the back paddle a bit, we found out from okw that putting a credit card on file isn’t the best idea, I’ll leave that experience under an okw review). I didn’t have a card on file here, hence we would not have used our magic bands to charge anything. Well night two of five, we get two voicemails on our room phone that say, please come to the front desk so we can discuss your account. Okay cool, we head down, for context we had an amazing day and we were heading down for dinner anyways, just laughing and cherishing the moments we had. We approached the desk and were informed that we had an outstanding balance and would need to take care of it. Confused I asked to see the charge.... it was for parking. Now when I booked the trip through DVC (even though it was a cash stay), when I called guest services Unreleased to asking about parking, and when we checked in I was told parking was free because were own in DVC, and we booked through DVC. Well maybe the night shift manager didn’t get the memo. The cast member was very nice, and said there wasn’t anything she could do, but she would get said manager. The woman was nothing short of condescending, and a line formed behind us, she spoke to us in a baby tone, and basically said too bad you’re getting charged every night, with out saying it that way. So this left a terrible taste in our mouth and I snidely responded to her snarky attitude “well charge it to my card on file then”, there was not a card on file. I smiled and walked away. Next day, I called DVC, and the morning manager, all fees waved, an apology was given and a few fast passes (seems to be Disney’s cheap remedy to any situation). The beds were nice, fridge tiny, and we were on the second floor, weird for it being a handicap room, it’s literally on the opposite corner from the only elevators in building 5. The pros, great food, wonderful theme and easy access to Disney Springs on the boat. Perhaps we should try again in a not so busy season, they were sold out, it was December 11th-15th that we were there, and I’m sure they were stressed, but on the flip side, they should be prepared for higher volumes and more stress and respond appropriately. We really just minded our own business, didn’t ask for anything special, we just wanted to enjoy our first trip as just two people going alone for the first time (we have always gone with our three kids, two are adults now and the youngest is 15, and all gave us their blessing before we booked). We probably won’t come back unless here’s some crazy offer out there that is too difficult to refuse to be honest. We will be staying at AKV Grand Villas Jambo in October, more reviews to come. One last thing to add, we opted out of housekeeping with a promise of a $10 a night gift card. They never sent it. I had to call and ask for it.

So we have arrived and am waiting for over an hour and half for our room to be ready!! Check-in time is supposed to be at 3:00! Dinner reservations will probably have to cancel bc we do t even have our bags to get changed. We were just told by pool attendants that the pool is only half opened due to renovations! Of course, there was no notice on the website when I made our reservations two weeks ago! Hopefully things will improve but right now I’m ready to check out and we barely have even checked in!
