Shabby chic would be a complement this place is old with small rooms and far from any expectations you might have of an American hotel. We eat a couple of times in the restaurant the food was uninspiring and the breakfast was awful never go to breakfast late the food is inedible. The staff were friendly and helpful and the bars very popular. We enjoyed the location the Old Town is worth a visit with some excellent restaurants. We would not stay at this hotel again.

"Great rooftop bar, mediocre hotel"

My wife and I spent a couple of nights here last week. A few things to note about this hotel. It is a long way north of the city centre and is not near the subway. The traffic downtown has to be seen to be believed and the congestion is very bad during the day. Bus or taxis can take an age and a walk will be over an hour. The hotel has distant views of the lake over 3 roads and a large park. Only 4 rooms on each floor have direct views to the lake and you need to be above floor 6 to get a decent sighting. So for example on the 8th floor, only rooms 803 to 807 have a direct lake view. The same number range on each floor. The rooms are comfortable but a little tired. Higher floor the better to get above the busy traffic noise on Clark Street. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooftop bar is trendy and very popular. Do be aware that a 12 dollar plus taxes "Amenity Fee" per night will be added to your bill whether you used any "amenities" or not!

"Overpriced - stay elsewhere"

I booked the lake view and don't see a lake out my window. The room is small ... I mean very small in that you can barely walk around the bed and in the bathroom. This place charges 4-star rates but is more like a high end motel at best (dirty carpets, cheap ac, no amenities, one small elevator that works, etc). With about $300/night including parking and fees, you'd do better staying elsewhere. The location is the only thing going for it.

"Great place to stay when visiting Chicago"

We stayed the weekend to visit our son who lives in Lincoln Park. We had a great spacious, and very clean room. Enjoyed brunch at the restaurant downstairs. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. And the location is great for visiting Lincoln Park and the North end of Chicago (Michigan Ave:)). Bed was firm, very comfortable. Pillows were great. Variety of types on the bed.

The room was small. With a bed in the room there was just enough space to walk around the bed. That’s all. The bathroom was small. There was barely enough room to stand in the tub to take a shower. Water pressure was wonderful. There is a small air conditioner in the room but it had difficulty keeping the temperature. It kept turning on for a minute or two and then turn off for a few minutes. Then it would turn on again. The walls are not well soundproofed as I heard everything going on in the adjacent rooms. The location is wonderful. I would definitely see what other options are in the area before I would stay here again.
