"Running to Waikoloa"

This is my 2nd trip to the Hilton Wailkoloa for an annual full/half marathon sponsored by the Revel Race Series. Because of my previous positive experience, it was an absolute 'no brainier' to stay there again. Close to my event, dining, pools, ocean & historical attractions all made this a wonderful memory for reflect upon for years to come. I am looking forward to 2021 to do it all over again!

"This is a Destination Resort In Itself"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5

This hotel is fantastic as a destination all in itself, but if you plan on touring the island a lot during your stay, you will not be able to utilize the hotel amenities enough to justify the prices - especially including the resort fee. However, if you plan on staying at the hotel, using the pools, the lagoons, the restaurants and bars, this is a great place to visit. If you are planning on driving around the island a lot during your stay, as we did, there are other less expensive alternatives. We did enjoy the balcony and the room amenities, although the large room and walk in closet was juxtaposed to a very small bathtub/shower combination. The HHonors free breakfast was limited to continental cereal, fruit and breads with the upgrade being $19 per person! There are definitely multiple local restaurants that provide excellent food for less than the upgrade cost! The buffet is very crowded so expect a wait time of 15 to 20 minutes to get a table during the busy hours. The grounds and lagoon area are immaculately groomed with lots of walking paths to the various venues, beaches, pools, restaurants and things to see and do. The lagoon area is very clean water with rental water toys (not included in the resort fee), fish and even a turtle. There are three main lodging buildings. Lagoon Tower is the main 'hotel' portion of the resort. We were upgraded to the Palace Tower for views of the ocean and pool areas. Ocean Tower is the main Hilton Grand Vacations time share area - although when booking hotel rooms via the hilton website, the Grand Vacation rooms are bookable as well. There is a tram to reach the various areas, sidewalks are available as well. There is a boat as well, but it runs less frequently than the tram. Recommended as a destination, not recommended as lodging for a touring trip of the island.

"Incredible One Night Experience"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

First impressions are important and Hilton Waikoloa absolutely delivered. We booked a one night stay using an award certificate and checked in with Annie at the Diamond/Gold desk. I read reviews that said Diamond members shouldn't expect to receive an upgrade, but when Annie found out we were celebrating my wife's birthday she upgraded us to a Palace Suite room and gave us complimentary drink tickets. The room was absolutely stunning. I told my wife that I would consider booking that room in the future since it provided plenty of space, 5 (!) lanais, and a nice peek-a-boo ocean view. We enjoyed the luau (despite it being moved indoors) and felt the show only price was very reasonable given the complimentary cocktails and dessert. The property is large and our two year old had us walking all over! The pool was chilly, but still nice. Continental breakfast was fine for our needs and the staff was very friendly. Overall, we had an incredible experience and hope that Annie is recognized by management for her superior service.

"Great family stay "

We stayed for only 2 nights at the end of our trip to Hawaii. I would rate it slightly above average (3.5 stars), but would not want to stay more than a few nights. The pool is excellent! The room was adequate. The grounds are beautiful and filled with interesting artifacts/art/statues from around the Pacific. We did not use the lagoon, it looked pretty ho-hum (really just a giant puddle of ocean water with no current whatsoever). Cocktails near the pool were $15 each! We dined only at Nui Italia and did not partake in the overpriced buffet breakfast ($40 for people age 12 and up, $20 for kids). There are many good restaurant choices in the area if you leave the hotel, or venture into the Town itself -all within a 15 minute drive or less.

We were here with our company for an incentive trip that combine business training with time to celebrate and have fun. This was the prefect place for both! The staff in every nook and cranny of this resort were friendly and helpful. It was rather refreshing.
