We decided to spend a day and night in the city with our teenage boys (14 &15) I researched many hotels and decided on the Gansevoort . We upgraded to a one bedroom suite so it wasn't cheap . The meatpacking area is great but the hotel itself was very disappointing . There must have been a bachelorette party in the room the night before because my son found a plastic penis on the floor and sperm stickers on the furniture . Makes me question how well they cleaned the room . I informed the front desk and she didn't seem to care . I also sent an email to the hotel after our stay and never received a response . I feel that this is really poor customer service and I would never stay there again .

"This place tainted our/my experience of Manhattan. Steer clear!"

The hot water didnt work for the whole 4 nights we were there. I notified the front desk, but they would act as if it was the first time they had heard about it even when I had spoken to that specific person the day before. I was kind and non confrontational, but was always treated as if I was a pain and they were above dealing with people. We ate upstairs and nextdoor and the food was expensive and very average. The staff have the worst attitude. The decor is totally missing the mark as if it was a cool place about 12 years ago. The lobby is average, but past that, it is lame. Also the music is the same, totally lame. They need to rethink so many things. This hotel had one staff member who was helpful, but otherwise all staff were very arrogant, rude and unhelpful. I have never reviewed an establishment, but felt compelled to warn others. Don't stay here or eat here. It's full of idiots with poles propping them up.

"Ripped off on NYE at the Gansevoort Hotel"

On New Year's Eve, my friends and I (Approx. 11 of us) were amazed that we could get up to the Gansevoort Rooftop without tickets. A women named Sam approached us and told us that she was the boss and could get us up for $100 each giving us table. We agreed and gave her the money and we're walked right in. When we got up to the rooftop it was very crowded and she just left us there without giving us the table she promised. She just left without saying a word and we knew that she ripped us off and just wanted the money. The party was overcrowded and we didn't even enjoy it because it was hard to even get a drink. Totally surprised that an establishment like the Gansevoort would allow such a scam. Never to return!!!!!!

"Unprofessional and Extortion"

On Friday, December 13, 2019, I came in from North Carolina and met my friend, who was staying at the Gansevoort, Meatpacking Hotel. When we attempted to go to the Rooftop we were told that there was a private event and that we needed to go to the lobby to speak to someone. At the lobby, we approached a blonde woman who was extremely unprofessional and just walked away from us. After waiting, she finally spoke to us and informed us again that there was a private event. She then told us that the tickets were $60, but if we tip her $50 each she would let us go up. We did give her the money and when we got to the rooftop we were amazed that it was pretty empty. This was at about 130am. We then met some people and we're surprised when they told us that tickets were only $40. Very upset that this woman extorted us for the money and treated us so poorly. My friend does stay at the hotel alot and didn't want me to say anything, however, I just couldn't understand her behavior and wanted to alert people of how guests are treated at this hotel. We were also told that she doesn't work for the hotel and works directly for the rooftop. Truly doesn't make any difference when she is the individual who deals directly with the guests for the rooftop. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone and will further ask my friend to never stay there again. Absolutely, no hospitality.

"New Year Eve"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed January 03, 2020 NEW
I came here for New Year Eve 2020. I spent more than $1000 ( including 2 vip admission tickets and 2 bottles of champagne) This place didn’t put any effort to make us feel, it was New Year. No decoration for new year, no count down. No one there was able to tell when it was already 12 am. It advertised as 4 hour open bar, but it was so full that it was so difficult to get a drink. This is the worst place I ever spent new year eve and the most expensive too. I wouldn’t recommend to anybody. It felt like it was any other weekend night out in a rooftop, nothing especial about new year. It also advertised as deluxe complimentary amenities and and festive NYE party favors. The only thing especial that night that I saw, was the waitress who came once the entire night on our vip table to give us one hot dog roll appetizer and one girl in the entire party who had New year glasses 2020. This was my worst experience for a new year celebration.
