"My New Favorite Myrtle Beach Hotel"
May 2019
The rooms are beautifully appointed, the beds are comfortable, everything is clean and well stocked, the pools are actually kept clean and very well maintained, the views are amazing, and who can turn down those amazing Doubletree cookies you get at check-in? Plus, because of where this resort is located, down the strip a bit on the other side of what used to be a pier (before a hurricane took it out), with the nearest hotel to the South being a bit down the road, the beach feels almost private. Even on a gorgeous Saturday, where the beach to the North was peppered with people, the beach here was quiet and open. It's less than 10 minutes from Broadway at the Beach and the Boardwalk areas, and has a great restaurant and bar on property. The lobby feels welcoming and modern, and the staff were incredibly friendly (even babysitting my son's pet hermit crabs after we had checked out to allow us some fun time before we hit the road). Maybe the only downside I can think to mention is that the take off and landing flight path for the Myrtle Beach Airport heads right over the South side of the hotel. Honestly, during the day, this was a positive thing (my son loved watching the planes) but, flights begin around 6:00am and planes aren't quiet. Still, even that wasn't worth me dropping a star from the review. Truthfully, after years of frequent weekend mini-cations to the area, resort hopping each time, I think we've found the hotel we'll stay at going forward.

Tip: Bring your own snacks, drinks and sandwhich meats...they only have one resturant loctaed on the fishing pier and food is nothing more than below average bar food.

They are better than they were before, friendly front desk, and generally do a good job. Parking is not always convenient, especially after 9 PM. Beds are actually pretty good. Exceptional water pressure!

We were here for a ownership preview....the property is very unimpressive. The rooms are fair. The property is dated. The lobby bar and restaurant are lovely. The service there is wonderful. The menu needs a lot of work. Needless to say we did NOT buy. We travel a lot....this is not a property we would return to visit. Lots of money for not a special experience (except for the bar and restaurant service).

"Very relaxing stay"

I had not been there before and didn't know what to expect. If you go to the DoubleTree you can expect a friendly welcome. A clean room with many extras. An amazing location. A relaxing atmosphere. The sound of the ocean. A restful night sleep on an extremely comfortable bed and wonderful suggestions of things to do and places to visit. I highly recommend getting on Carolina time and sipping your favorite beverage or enjoying your favorite bite to eat. Bon appetit!

"Avoid it."

Didn’t honor my reservation and due to cancellation fees I was forced into spending more money for a room change. Airplanes fly overhead all day. Mini golf course is not maintained. Seems like it was a failed business they just inherited. Food is not that great. The room was not clean. Shower did not drain. No batteries in the tv remote. Clock was at the wrong time. Over all just a terrible experience. Would have loved to cancel after I arrived and they did not honor my booking. I recommend finding a better place to stay. For what you pay, it’s entirely not worth it.

"Beware of construction, housekeeping and sleeper sofa!!"
TripAdvisor user rating 2 out of 5
Reviewed June 12, 2019 NEW
The purpose of our trip was for my wife and I to take my mother who will turn 90 this year, to the beach for what was probably her last trip as she has dementia. The hotel is rebuilding the pier which is adjacent to the hotel. During our stay the construction crew was pounding in the new pier supports which was very loud! The lazy river was also closed for repair. None of this was posted on the hotel web site. The hotel recommends that if there is a particular time you wish to have houskeeping services that you notify the front staff. The first day we did not receive room houskeeping until after 4:00pm. I called to ask if we could have the room completed between 10:00am and 1:00pm. and was assured that this would be possible. During this time it would allow me to get my mother to the beach and back so she could then rest. The next day we returned from the beach at 1:30 and NO room houskeeping. I called the front desk and was told that housekeeping would come right away. After waiting unti 4:00pm I went to the fron desk and informed them that houskeping had not shown. I was handed a bunch of shampoo, soap, and coffee and was told that they would again contact houskeeping. I returned to the room, collect the trash and used towels and when houskeeping finally showed up around 5:30 exchanged for fresh towels and trash bags. Once again I asked that the room be serviced betwen 10:00am and 1:00pm. Guess what?? The next day it was the same story!!! My big complaint is that if the hotel is going to offer houskeeping at a requested time then do so. If not then don't offer!! We had a two room suite and when we opened the sleeper sofa there was trash (Bottle caps, candy bar wrappers) underneath. It was also the most uncomfortable sleeper sofa I have ever had the displeasure of sleeping on. I have stayed at many Hilton properties and Hilton is my number one hotel chain when booking a hotel. I feel this hotel is not up to the Hilton standards and please note that the above review is not indicative of other Hilton properties.
