"My New Favorite Myrtle Beach Hotel"

The rooms are beautifully appointed, the beds are comfortable, everything is clean and well stocked, the pools are actually kept clean and very well maintained, the views are amazing, and who can turn down those amazing Doubletree cookies you get at check-in? Plus, because of where this resort is located, down the strip a bit on the other side of what used to be a pier (before a hurricane took it out), with the nearest hotel to the South being a bit down the road, the beach feels almost private. Even on a gorgeous Saturday, where the beach to the North was peppered with people, the beach here was quiet and open. It's less than 10 minutes from Broadway at the Beach and the Boardwalk areas, and has a great restaurant and bar on property. The lobby feels welcoming and modern, and the staff were incredibly friendly (even babysitting my son's pet hermit crabs after we had checked out to allow us some fun time before we hit the road). Maybe the only downside I can think to mention is that the take off and landing flight path for the Myrtle Beach Airport heads right over the South side of the hotel. Honestly, during the day, this was a positive thing (my son loved watching the planes) but, flights begin around 6:00am and planes aren't quiet. Still, even that wasn't worth me dropping a star from the review. Truthfully, after years of frequent weekend mini-cations to the area, resort hopping each time, I think we've found the hotel we'll stay at going forward.

Tip: Bring your own snacks, drinks and sandwhich meats...they only have one resturant loctaed on the fishing pier and food is nothing more than below average bar food.

I am a long-time Hilton Honors member and I have tried to stay at Hilton properties exclusively over the past 10 years. This particular property used to be Springmaid Beach Resort and was a great value in the area. It was sufficient for the price to get you close to the beach but was dated and in need of an update. I was excited when Hilton bought the property because other Hilton properties in the area (Embassy Suites and Hampton Inn) are both great properties, well maintained and measure up to the Hilton name. This property does not. We came in for Memorial Day weekend and knew they would not be offering housekeeping services due to covid-19 concerns and we were ok with that. I called the week before to confirm that the amenities were available- bikes, and beach chair rentals being 2 big ones for us. When we arrived there was a flyer advertising the beach chair rental on the counter. We checked in and noticed that the rooms do not feel like a Doubletree room. They feel like a Days Inn (at best). They are old and have fresh paint/carpet, but it is apparent that the money to refurbish was spent on the lobby area. The walkways are in need of a powerwashing, the pool deck is patched and needs to be resurfaced, one of the pools was closed (on a holiday weekend) because of a missing drain cover. There was not enough seating at the pool areas (Covid 19) and the cabanas to rent (which are all separated by walls, so no social distancing issues, there) were closed. I called the afternoon we arrived about bike rentals and was told that due to a recent lightning strike the bike rentals were not available (because the machine that controls them was broken?). Bummer. Sad- asked if there were other options. Told I could try to rent them somewhere else. Keep in mind we were paying a 'resort fee' for the amenities. The next morning, I was watching to see when the chairs would be set up on the beach so I could go down and rent them… waiting….waiting… I finally called and was told that the city had decided to delay the rentals until June due to covid 19. So… the hotel advised they were available the week before and even had flyers available, but did not actually KNOW if this was available or not. I was told I could go to Walmart and buy my own. I called the Hhonors customer support number as the Doubletree 'Care' line did not seem to really care and did not offer an apology for the miscommunication or any kind of concession. The Hhonors representative was also not apologetic and advised that they had no control over what the hotel did. I really understand that services are limited during this time…. But state those things when you are asked about them, don't mislead your guests. We will not stay at this "Hilton' property again because it is overpriced for the quality of property. I would stay at the Embassy or the Hampton on the beach- was just at the Hampton in November and it was great, but not sure I will try to remain loyal to Hilton based on this experience and lack of any concession.

I booked this hotel in March 2020 before the coronavirus really hit us..I was going to cancel but decided to keep the reservation and we ended up going for a much needed getaway.. Well, the room was not as expected, pictures seemed a bit misleading. First, the rooms seemed a bit outdated. The room and kitchenette was quite small for 5 of us..the bathroom consisted of the toilet and shower, the sink was next to our bed and used for the kitchen and bathroom combined.. The sink seemed clogged and had a very slow drain. There was no cleaning service and the room was quite dusty. The surfaces on the night stand and tv stand were covered in dust. Also, the air conditioning unit was very loud. I just felt very uncomfortable staying here. I paid a nice chunk of change and this was my first visit to Myrtle Beach.. I will definitely come back to Myrtle Beach but don’t think I’ll be staying at this hotel again. BUT, the lady at the front desk when I checked in was very nice.

Our family had a shot at a spontaneous vacation & with having a million honors points called Doubletree. My husband got in contact with Jessica at the front desk - she was wonderful! She arranged for us to have 4 rooms all side by side. 2 adjoining so it made it even better for us to open the inside door and go room to room! They are definitely pet friendly but be careful with little pups....the area in a whole has the little brair ball patches everywhere...it’s painful for some! Housekeeping was great as well as far as changing out towels and loaning us a vacuum (they are not cleaning during your stay while we were there because of Covid). There is great picnic areas around so we had a low country boil one night which was great! The resort overall is great. We will definitely stay again with a big party!!

Staff was great!! Rooms were pretty good. It was not very busy so we were able to enjoy the beaches without fear of rubbing elbows with too many people. We loved being close to the state park area. It is also close to shopping and far enough away from all the hooplah.
