"My New Favorite Myrtle Beach Hotel"
May 2019
The rooms are beautifully appointed, the beds are comfortable, everything is clean and well stocked, the pools are actually kept clean and very well maintained, the views are amazing, and who can turn down those amazing Doubletree cookies you get at check-in? Plus, because of where this resort is located, down the strip a bit on the other side of what used to be a pier (before a hurricane took it out), with the nearest hotel to the South being a bit down the road, the beach feels almost private. Even on a gorgeous Saturday, where the beach to the North was peppered with people, the beach here was quiet and open. It's less than 10 minutes from Broadway at the Beach and the Boardwalk areas, and has a great restaurant and bar on property. The lobby feels welcoming and modern, and the staff were incredibly friendly (even babysitting my son's pet hermit crabs after we had checked out to allow us some fun time before we hit the road). Maybe the only downside I can think to mention is that the take off and landing flight path for the Myrtle Beach Airport heads right over the South side of the hotel. Honestly, during the day, this was a positive thing (my son loved watching the planes) but, flights begin around 6:00am and planes aren't quiet. Still, even that wasn't worth me dropping a star from the review. Truthfully, after years of frequent weekend mini-cations to the area, resort hopping each time, I think we've found the hotel we'll stay at going forward.

Tip: Bring your own snacks, drinks and sandwhich meats...they only have one resturant loctaed on the fishing pier and food is nothing more than below average bar food.

"Worth the trip.. Staff was great and room service was fun to talk and joke with."

Staff was great!! Rooms were pretty good. It was not very busy so we were able to enjoy the beaches without fear of rubbing elbows with too many people. We loved being close to the state park area. It is also close to shopping and far enough away from all the hooplah.

"Great Overnight Trip!"

My husband, mom, children and I stayed at the Doubletree for a one night quick getaway to the beach this month. I remembered staying at this hotel 15 years ago when it was Springmaid when I was in high school. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly, it took no time to check in! Super thankful for the free cookies :) Our room was clean and spacious. We were on the second floor and had a great view of the beach and the sunrise the next morning. I was also very pleased with the parking levels and that there were entrances each level. Our car was parked literally 15 steps from our room on the second level, quick access if we forgot something:) The ONLY complaint I have about this hotel would be the bathroom. The light switch was BEHIND the door, so that was a little inconvenient for my children having to fish for a light in the dark in the middle of the night. Second, there were no soap holders in the shower, causing me to have to find a spot for my slippery soap without getting my hair wet when I bent down. Third, there was a super loud humming noise in the bathroom when you turned on the light, which stayed that way the entire time you were in the bathroom. Only minor minor complaints, nothing to ruin our great stay, especially for one night. This hotel is located at the "quiet" end of the beach and is basically the first hotel that "starts" the strip, away from the crazy traffic and crowds, which is also another plus. I would definitely stay there again, granted the great deal we got for one night off a partnering website. Decent stay and price for a quick trip!

"Older, tired property "
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5
Reviewed March 22, 2020 NEW
This was probably once a premier property—maybe in the ‘90s or thereabouts. But now it’s older and worn. For example, I felt uncomfortable walking barefoot on the carpeted floor in my room. The ice machine on my floor didn’t work for over a day, long after I told the front desk about it the first time. Some of the staff seems to try to be accommodating, but they seem unhappy to be here, especially during the coronavirus crisis, which put a premium on the cleanliness that I saw somewhat lacking. It was tolerable for a couple of days, but I’m moving to a newer property today for the rest of the week. To their credit, they did agree to waive their resort fee since most of the amenities were shut down because of the virus.

"Where was the service?"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed March 18, 2020 NEW
The day after we arrived, we were switched to a "suite" (at no additional cost) because of construction. They didn't know construction was going to happen around this time? The "suite" was just a larger room with a couch and a chair and a lot of dead floor space. And the view was not what we paid for - we wanted the ocean, we got the kiddie pool. Room service was terrible because of the front desk. The front desk did not tell housekeeping tht we moved to this room so the room was not cleaned, no towels, no coffee. We asked the front desk - they did not come through. After the ssecond day of no rook service, we contacted the front desk again and finally got room service. We were going to be give a free breakfast or a refund of resort fees because of the room change. Did it happen? Nope, not until I showed the front desk the text they sent me and the bill with no refund. I have staayed at Hiltons many times and I expected much more from Hilton than what we got.

"Not up to DoubleTree standards"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5
Reviewed March 16, 2020 NEW
To call this a "resort property" and charge a resort fee of $22 + taxes on top of the the normal room rate is really a disservice to your guests. The property needs a ton of attention, specifically general house keeping around the grounds. I was there for 10 nights for business in the Myrtle Beach area, so I had plenty of time to see the entire property. My general opinion was - the property is outdated and in need of a lot of general cleaning up. The staff was nice, and friendly ... but the grounds were not up to what I'd consider to be DoubleTree standards. A bright spot - the laundry facilities were clean and up to date ... but for a property with the number of rooms on it ... very small. Just 2 washing machines and 2 dryers. Luckily, the day I choose to do laundry - the property wasn't busy so I had the laundry room to myself.
