If travelling to Ohahu, Pearl Harbour is a must to visit. Very well done. Sadly Arizona monument was closed to the public, but there is a boat ride round the harbour which takes you by it. The film shown in the theatre is a must see. All round good day out.

"Tips regarding the bag policy and photo ID"

I won’t repeat all the positive comments about the Pearl Harbor site which you can read in other reviews. It’s excellent and inspirational - that’s all I need to say here. I just wanted to make people aware of a couple of helpful points which aren’t very clear from the Pearl Harbor websites. 1. You can bring see-through stadium bags. They state that you can’t bring bags or anything “that offers concealment”. However, what isn’t clear is that you CAN bring a “stadium bag” - these are made of clear, see-through plastic so that everything in the bag is visible, and you can buy them online, e.g. through Amazon. So you can conveniently carry your water bottle, sun cream, sunglasses, camera etc in them. One of the staff actually congratulated me when he saw my bag and said, “You’ve done your homework!” 2. Bring government-issued photo ID if you plan to visit the USS Missouri. It’s still a US Navy ship, so they can ask you for ID and can refuse to let you on board if you don’t have it. We had this experience when trying to visit the USS Constitution in Boston a few years ago; we got turned away and had to go back to our hotel for our passports. This time we brought our passports and weren’t asked for them, but better safe than sorry.

I have previously visited the memorial on a past holiday and even though I was disappointed to discover we would not be able to go onto the memorial due to its closure my partner and I were still very glad to be able to take the time to visit this important site. Watching the movie, visiting the museum and a viewing of the Bowfin submarine takes you back to such an important part of America's history. Definitely a worthwhile visit. Would like to have gone to the US Missouri but unfortunately did not have time this trip.

Was a great experience, would definitely recommend visiting. Although there are lots of tourists visiting all the time, it never seemed too crowded so you could spend time walking around and reading all the plaques.
