"Good fish selection done right"

My wife and I were there for Thanksgiving to visit our nephews. Yes, I like fish cooked soft, seared, and raw. Most area restaurants had two fish selections this November. Moamoa had four and is in the Sheraton next to the pool and serves very tasty dishes. I enjoyed the macadamia crusted ono with a brown delicious sauce. My wife had Udon noodles with vegetables. We were seated next to the glass doors by the Pool and bar. With two locals who agreed to remember this place. Two years ago this was a Marriot and after a remodel it is a Sheraton.

"5 night stay"

My Husband and I stayed in a King ocean view room for 5 nights. We thought this resort was a great value, in a great location, and nicely updated. The beds/sheets/and towels were all soft and comfortable. There was a small mini fridge, safe, coffee maker that only used the coffee pods that were provided, as well as a huge TV in the room. AC worked well. House keeping was great. Food was really good at the bar, especially the burger with the pineapple on it. We received two free mai tais which was a nice touch. The balcony is pretty small, it'll fit two people as long as neither of you want to move. We loved the complimentary Kauai coffee in the lobby in the mornings. Our room was very quiet. We never heard any of our neighbors unlike some hotels. We also really liked not having a view of the pool but a straight shot of the ocean, we were room 329. The ocean is not swimmable here and is very rocky, but we were fortunate enough to see a couple monk seals sleeping on the beach. We don't really spend much time at resorts other than to sleep and get ready. So we would highly recommend the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach!

"Needs Improvement"

We arrived at the hotel at 9:00 am and was not able to check into a room until 5:00 pm. Guest service lady was rude and not helpful to get us into a room. Bed was comfortable and nice sheets. Housekeeping was not up to par, had to request supplies each day that were not restocked. Door battery had to replaced twice while we waited to get into our room. By the fourth night the floor was so filthy because lack of housekeeping I needed to wear shoes while in the room. Air conditioning had to be worked on during our stay. Made reservations for Thanksgiving dinner, arrived 5 minutes before our time and was told to come back at reservation time. The restaurant was only 1/4 full, but had to wait an hour for first course. Dinner would have been much better at a Dennys, very disappointing. Most of the employees were helpful and friendly, but the few who were not spoiled the overall experience. At this point the Resort has a long way to go to be considered a resort. Everyday we had issues with the room and housekeeping. The hotel is beach front but the beach is rocky so definitely not a swimming beach.

"Pretty nice place"

Check in was smooth and professional. Decided to upgrade to ocean view for 40 more dollars per night. Had a view of the pool with ocean in the distance. The balcony was so small that only one of us could sit there at a time. We had 2 mai tias at the bar and was charged 34 dollars. Ouch. Overall though it was a nice place and construction is almost complete. No swimming in the ocean here. Tried to book the Luau but it was sold out.

"Not quite up to par"

This newly renovated Sheraton is actually an old Courtyard and while a lot of the design is nice there are still a few bones of the Courtyard skeleton in the closet. There was a bad window leak and musty smell on the top floor when we arrived and the elevator was out of service for a few days. The pool area is nice but they seem to be struggling with getting the landscaping to grow. The stairways and areas just off the main spaces seem old, rusty and not well attended. The lanais are small and barely support 2 people and small chairs. The bathrooms are also small, there’s no exhaust fans and the toiletries are not in keeping with Marriott’s higher end properties. Perhaps they are planning to address these issues and they just aren’t done yet but they’re already charging Sheraton pricing. We’d advise waiting to see if they start delivering Sheraton experiences.
