"We visit twice a year! Allergy friendly"

My family of four (kids 8/6) LOVES Big Cedar Lodge. We stay at the Wilderness Club twice a year. We’ve been at least 12 times in the past 7 years, and always go around Christmas and in August. There is so much to do in the winter. We love that we can do all of our holiday traditions and fun in one weekend. After our trip to Big Cedar in early December, we don’t feel the need to run around Kansas City, where we live, doing Christmas activities. We did them all at Big Cedar. These are our typical Christmas long weekend recommendations: 1. Breakfast with Santa is worth the money! He comes right to your table and no waiting in lines. Although it is a buffet, the chef is able to make suggestions on what my daughter/husband can eat. Between the two of them they are severally allergic to wheat, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, lentils, shellfish, and chickpeas. With a list like that, eating out can be crazy hard! 2. The Christmas light wagon ride is also worth the money. The kids drink hot cocoa and sing Christmas carols. 3. We typically do one fancy meal out and we enjoy Buffalo Bar at Top of the Rock. The food is wonderful, they have a great wine selection, the fire places are cozy, and there is typically live music. We like to go on Sunday evening so the kids don’t disturb anyone’s date night. The staff is knowledgeable about how the food is prepared and double check everything with the chef. 4. Typically it’s been warm enough to still swim outside in December at the heated pool or at least enjoy one of the many hot tubs. 5. The kids love doing the Elf on the Shelf scavenger hunt. It’s free and the kids win a prize. We make it a hiking event and walk while we do it and enjoy the grounds. We always stop at the beach to skip rocks and turtle pond to feed the turtles. 6. S’mores at the fire pit, followed by Santa arriving by tractor, and a fire work show are a highlight. One kid gets selected to light the Christmas tree through a drawing. Meeting Santa is free and a gift is also handed out to kids for free. 7. The kids love to play mini golf and shuffle board. I can’t say enough positive things about Big Cedar. The staff is well trained, the grounds are perfect, and the resort is perfect for families or a romantic weekend. I need to do a summer review because that is when I usually go to the spa and my husband golfs. My kids have been to several countries, Disney World, the beach, but their favorite trip is always Big Cedar Lodge.

"Even the winter weather can't keep us away!!"

Validation that you don't need the sun and 80 degree weather to enjoy the stay at Big Cedar. We have been here in the winter months before and enjoyed all that winter brings to BC. A quiet, slow pace if that's what is needed and still the enjoyment of live entertainment at Buzzards Bar in the evening if that's your choice as well. Of course, meals at Devil's Pool - - a win win.

"A Winter Respite with all the frills"

If you are looking for a wonderful escape from the winter doldrums, Big Cedar would be a great place to start. From the upscale cabins overlooking the lake to a first class spa and dining accommodations; add to this lake views and proximity to Branson. We make this our annual getaway. Even in snow the convenient shuttle service, warm cozy fires, great food and exceptional service melts your winter cares away. Room service is available as well to all the cabins to and from restaurants and facilities and is just a phone call away. If you desire, there is fun mountain for the kids and young at heart providing rock climbing, game arcades, pooltables and an under the sea motif bowling alley. Summer provides outdoor pools and a full service marina and fun outdoor activities. Big Cedar will provide a winter getaway that will make you want to return every year.

"2nd Visit, BC did not Disappoint"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

This was our 2nd visit in 6 months. First time is was just me and the wife and we loved it. We thought our 4 year old might enjoy it more, and we were right. We came down for Christmas, and Big Cedar really goes all out. The resort is beautifully decorated, it was like a winter wonderland. Tons of festive things to do for the whole family. The tree lighting ceremony on Christmas Eve was over the top and well executed. Our daughter was smiling ear to ear. If you want to do something different for the holidays, I highly recommend checking it out. We stayed in one of the cottages over by the infinity pool area. Very nice little cottage. We walked in and they already had a little Christmas tree setup, it really gave a festival feeling. All the cottages had Christmas lights on them. The beds were very comfortable. We had alittle loft area in our cottage that our daughter loved playing in. Our balcony had nice view of the lake. We are looking forward to our next visit in the summer!

My husband and I decided that we really needed to getaway and chose big cedar lodge and are so glad we did. The cabin was cozy with a kitchen and a wood burning fireplace. Enjoyed both the Devils pool restaurant and going to the Osage at table rock. This is our third time coming here and looking forward to returning in the near future.
