Description

from Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
With so many choices, where do you begin? Right here. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is a 135-acre animal theme park located in Vallejo, California. The park includes a plethora of pulse-pounding roller coasters, to gentler options for tots.

At the heart of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is its diverse animal program, where guests, young and old, can enjoy strolling through the LAND area of the park to see beautiful cats, such as African lions, Bengal and Siberian tigers and cougars relaxing in their tranquil outdoor habitats.

In SEA, various marine mammals, such as bottlenose dolphins, Pacific walruses, California sea lions, Pacific harbor seals and our aquatic bird species, endangered African penguins, can be found. Walk through the serene Butterfly Habitat or gaze at the often misunderstood sharks in the Shark Experience

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom offers unique opportunities to meet animals truly up-close and personal. From your first step into the park, you might see exotic parrots and macaws; at the main plaza, or see dolphins swimming via an underwater viewing window at Dolphin Harbor.

For those that wish to engage with animals directly, there are ample opportunities to meet, see, touch and feed a variety of animal species. Each operating day, there are limited spaces available where you can feed a seal or sea lion at Seal Cove or feed a giraffe at the Giraffe Encounter (additional fee required).

Throughout the day, you won’t want to miss any of our entertaining and informational animal presentations. See marine mammal specialists take our two-ton walruses through a series of unbelievable behaviors, and the Odin’s Temple of the Tiger demonstration show is a one-of-a-kind experience that proves that cats really do like to swim.

For fans of our feathered friends, our animal care specialists show that macaws and cockatoos have distinct personalities at Discovery Theater and there’s no doubt that every animal, big or small, has a place in the ecosystem. Not to miss is the Aquaped Waterworks Sea Lion Show and the energetic Drench! dolphin show at Toyota Stadium. During special times like Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park, we re-theme these for the occasion!

"My Fantastic Times at Six Flags."
June 2019 NEW
Every time my family and myself go to six flags we are never let down. The staff are very thorough and good people. My family sees six flsgs as a vacation to leave stress or work behind and enjoy our family time, and six flags is the best place to do just that.

"Most of the rides closed most of the time"
May 2019
I was visiting from Germany with my two boys and we were very excited about spending a day in the park. Unfortunately, this was quite disappointing. Most of the rides were closed a big part of the day. Obviously there was not enough staff available to run even half of them at the same time. But still, they would let you go in line, wait for 20 minutes and then tell you that there is a ‚delay in operation‘ and you can either wait for don’t know how long or come back at a later point in time. They could have at least closed the lines at some point in time and then switch to operating the next ride... Some rides like the White Water raft only opened in the late afternoon. When it was really warm about noon, no way. But at 5 p.m. it was operating as it cooled down. There were two roller coasters that we only saw running when we left the park.
We did pick a day we thought there were not so many people there, but we thought about visitors and not about staff... All in all this was a very disappointing experience for a very high price. I am very happy I did not buy full priced tickets...
Still leave two starts because the boys liked the animal shows, especially the dolphins. If it wasn’t for the shows, the day would have been a very pricy mess...

"Old and Tired"
March 2019
This used to be MarineWorld. Then it was purchased by Six Flags. Now it isn’t sure if it’s an animal park or a roller coaster park...so it’s doesn’t do a particularly good job at either. Half the rides weren’t running the day we visited.

"Winter visit"
January 2019
Many thrill rides were closed. Most animal exhibits were empty. Medusa broke down twice. Most snack stands were closed. Long lines at the few that were open. Kinda depressing.

Tip: Don't do the $5 locker rental at individual rides. It's only good for twp hours, but they don't tell you this until after you pay for it. Ripoff...

"Very Good Experience!"
November 2018
We purchased the tickets a few days before going to the park and the day at the park for a late arrival. The air quality was down and the park closed but we were able to get a complimentary pass for another day. So Reserve San Francisco worked for us very smoothly and we enjoyed a few hours of the park without any lines.

Tip: Its good to plan alittle more than we do. There is a lot to see at the park and a lot of walking so wear comfy shoes and arrive early.

My husband and I recently visited the park. We purchased the flash passes and i will tell you...well worth it! We had practically no wait time! It let us enjoy the park without being miserable in the long lines and heat! Food wasnt bad and the rides and aquariums were amazing. Kid friendly but also adult friendly. We want to return soon!

"Reservesanfrancisco was tops!"
September 2018
We found the price on reservesanfrancisco to be the cheapest. One minor hiccup was that I had to call to make sure tickets were verified since I didn't get the email right away. But upon arrival at 6 Flags, I just showed my phone/ bar code at the GATE (not will call), and we were buzzed right through!

6 flags had VERY age appropriate things for our 5 and 2 year old. They loved it!

Worst part is parking, which is about half a mile away. No joke. You can take a very crowded shuttle? Or walk with a crowd down a narrow path.

"The “other” Six Flags Park in California "

Being that I’m a coaster junkie and have a Gold Season Pass to Six Flags I was excited to visit this park with its 10 Coasters! Unfortunately, we had to go on a Saturday and even though we got there before the park opened it was super crowded! Other than the first coaster that we rode… Every line ended up being over an hour long! There was a good chunk of the day where 3-4 coasters were down which just increased the lines at the other rides. 2 coasters (Flash and Harley Quinn) never opened the entire day which is especially frustrating when you live 3,000 miles away. Overall, if the crowds are moderate to low this would be a decent Six Flags park as there are 3 really cool coasters (Joker, Superman and Batman) We never made it to the animal attractions but we did see the very scenic picnic groves and beautiful coastal backdrop areas. This park has a lot of potential to be amazing if they just make sure rides are running and put a few Thrill rides near the top of the park to thin the crowds out a bit.

"Rides & shows great but dirty and rules not enforced by staff"
TripAdvisor user rating 2 out of 5

We loved the attractions and animal shows but the rest of park ruined it from ever returning. The whole park was littered of trash everywhere. Sales pitches in park of timeshare and phone vompanies annoying. My biggest complaint it seemed they have rules but none of the staff have been given the confidence to enforce them. We had group teenage girls cut whole entire line announce they were not waiting in explicit manner and were served. Staff were treated horrible and seemed as they were just supposed to take it. Blatant line cutting everwhere, no consquencies and obvious they knew staff didnt care or wouldnt do anything. Staff needs empowered to make changes here. Id drive 7 hrs down to Anaheim before returning.
