Overview

Liberty Science Center is a 300,000-square-foot learning center on the bank of the Hudson River. Located near the Statue of Liberty, the center showcases 12 museum exhibits, a live animal collection, massive aquariums, a 3D theater, element simulators, and much more. The center even hosts the Western Hemisphere’s biggest planetarium: The Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium and LSC Giant Dome Theater.

Liberty Science Center is a must-see destination. The Science Center is also home to the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium, the biggest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere, where you can learn to spot the stars in the night sky. Explore the engineering marvels of our times in Skyscraper, and try balancing on an I beam in midair. Make your way through the pitch-black Touch Tunnel guided only by your sense of touch. Get dizzying views of LSC's interior when you enter the Infinity Climber, suspended 35 feet above the atrium floor. Enjoy live science demonstrations, 3D movies, and laser shows, programming geared toward preschool kids, and engaging temporary shows that change up several times a year. The striking, architecturally distinct Science Center is conveniently located near public transportation hubs and a major highway between Newark International Airport and New York City. What are the hours of operation? 
Tues – Fri. 9:30 am – 4:00 pm and Sat. & Sun. 9:00 am – 5:30 pm.

Is parking provided? If so, what is the fee? 
The parking lot is owned by the state of New Jersey and operated by a private company. LSC does not receive parking revenue. The price of cars and vans during the day is $7.00.

Is the attraction appropriate for children?

Are wheelchair rentals available? If so, what is the fee? 
Wheelchairs (request at the Welcome Desk; first come, first served).

Is the attraction wheelchair accessible? 
Yes, drop-off circle near the entrance (enter from Phillip Street), two large elevators access each floor. A third elevator serves the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium and LSC Giant Dome Theater. A level entrance and interior space and wheelchair-accessible restrooms and public areas.

Can I leave and re-enter on the same day? 
Yes, you will get a wristband when you check-in.

Can I bring my camera? 
Yes.

Can I bring my own food/beverages? 
No, but the café on the second floor offers hearty, healthful fare for lunch and snacks. Try a custom-crafted pizza from the brick oven, a specialty sandwich or entrée from the grill, or take your pick of fresh choices at the salad bar. We also offer special kids' meals, soft drinks, coffee, tea, and sweet treats. There are vending machines in our Group Dining room, and seating for your group in spacious Governors Hall and small dining rooms, all near the café. We offer many vegetarian and gluten-free options. Please be aware that Liberty Science Center is neither a nut-free or gluten-free facility.

Can I bring my pet?
Registered service dogs are welcome at Liberty Science Center.
