Named after Asheville theatre legend and founder Hazel Robinson, this amazing outdoor destination can comfortably seat over one thousand patrons. North Carolina’s longest-running Shakespeare theatre company, the Montford Park Players’ objective is to ‘provide exceptional dramatic entertainment for our audiences' enrichment, education, and enjoyment.’  Also founded by Robinson in 1973, with a performance of Shakespeare’s famed comedy As You Like It, the theatre's wings took flight as the players broadened its reach. MMP became a 501(c)3 organization and has thrived ever since with the community's support through individual donations, foundation grants, and business sponsorships. A few years into its inception, the players presented Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol, which grew into the town’s A Dickens Village, a beloved celebration in Asheville’s Biltmore Village during the winter holidays, a tradition that has lasted for the past 40 years.
