DuPage Children's Museum in Chicago

DuPage Children's Museum, just 35 minutes from downtown Chicago, is a unique center for learning, packed with creative play, hands-on exploration, and imaginative, inspiring tools.

For over 30 years, the DuPage Children's Museum has inspired and entertained children with its hands-on exhibits and playgrounds of exploration. From woodworking spaces with actual hammers and nails to an art room full of paint (with genius hard-to-spill cups), kids can explore in a safe, nurturing environment.

This kid's approved destination ignites fun through interactive play and stimulated learning. DuPage Children's Museum is an excellent place for kids to experience interactive learning by integrating art, math, and science. Research has shown that children learn at a more accelerated rate through play and by using their imagination.

The museum is divided into different sections or neighborhoods to promote learning and inclusivity. Each area has different themes and experiences for the children to explore their unique tastes. Whether it's art, math, science, or music- there is something for every little mind in DuPage's Neighborhoods.

Creative Connection Exhibit

Here, kids can experience different textures, lighting, and shadows with hands-on blocks to create patterns on a giant pyramid bench. With hundreds of building pieces like Magna Tiles and Glow Roads, kids can build to their heart's content.

Pro Tip: For the best experience, plan your day on a full stomach for both you and your little ones. Extra snacks are also available at the museum's S.M.A.R.T. Café.

Move and Groove Experience

This exhibit promotes moving, bouncing, and dancing along with imaginative play. Kids can jump like a grasshopper, ride an indoor teeter-totter and get their groove on with this exciting attraction.

Calling All Creators

This inspiring play lets kids take center stage and follow their own musical production using foam drumsticks and a P.V.C. pipe organ.

The Studio

This exhibit is calling all artists to create and display their inner Picasso. The Studio features various craft supplies and real paint for all skill levels. Bonus: Parents can leave the mess!

S.M.A.R.T. Café

This fueling station for children's bodies and minds is full of healthy choices and delicious options from snacks to salads and burgers.

Guests can also enjoy a variety of neighborhood restaurants and cafes, including Starbucks, Cold Stone Creamery, Egg Harbor Café, and Giordano's.

The museum is located in downtown Naperville, just a quick walk from the Naperville Metra train station. Parking is free, and the building is wheelchair accessible.

  • Monday – Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
