Your certified interpretive guide will lead you to spectacular view planes, atop ancient eruptive sites, and into the wonder of the tropical mountain forests, where they will reveal and connect you with a Hawaii that few experience. Begin your day with a short hike up Diamond Head in the cool morning air. This hike is 1.6 miles and has an elevation gain of 700 feet. Atop the summit, your guide will bring to life the geologic and historic events of this famous landmark while overlooking Waikiki beach. Afterwards enjoy a local-style breakfast picnic with smoothies and freshly cut fruit.

Soak in the panoramic views from Waikiki to Waianae as you gaze from atop the Tantalus Overlook. When you look down on the Honolulu district from it's ancient volcano peaks, you can begin to understand how the landscape was shaped and how the forest watershed plays an important role for this iconic city. Enjoy an expert lead exploration through the thousands of tropical and subtropical exotic plants at the Lyon Arboretum - all accentuated by the thoughtful stories and naturalist knowledge of your guide. Discover how Hawaii’s one of a kind position in the Pacific helps host these botanical wonders, and how the arboretum serves as a living outdoor laboratory.

Rated: Easy to moderate; Diamond Head Hike of 1.6 miles with an elevation gain of 700 feet. Moderate hike and climb at Diamond Head with paved surfaces, steep stairs and short sections of enclosed tunnels.

We did a star gazing tour atop Mauna Kea on Valentine's Day 2020 - about a week after our wedding in Honolulu. Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic and extremely knowledgable - unfortunately his name escapes me right now - making for an incredible experience. I couldn't recommend this incredible excursion more!

What a day, enjoyed a small group hiking tour through though lava tubes ending at a local brewery. Felt like we got into see part of the island that most dont get to see.

My wife and I are very glad we book wtih Hawaii Forest and Trail for the guided trip to the top of Mauna Kea. The eight-hour trip took care of the hassle of driving to the top of the mountain (4WD is requrired), and Jeff, our guide, was knowledgable about Hawaii's flora, fauna and history. The sunset was mind-blowing and the star-gazing (their trips feature an 11-inch Celestron telescope) was fantastic. An altogether unique and worthwhile trip! How often can you go from sea level to over 13,000 feet!
