"5 star prices for 3 star resort"

Honest Review- outrageous prices! Bring your bank! If renting a vehicle find alternate parking then the resort 69 usd per day and 55 usd resort fees as well! They operate at 5 star prices at a 3 star resort! Only thing good is the location! Rooms are outdated, fridge freezing everything, water bubbles in walls and room covered in dust! Not much here happening at the resort in the evenings! Find alternative options off resort! Only folks friendly are housekeeping staff!

"Overwhelming for the Price – Gold Member Experience Fell Short"
TripAdvisor user rating 3.0 out of 5
Reviewed February 08, 2026 NEW
As a Hilton Gold member who stays almost exclusively at Hilton properties, I came to Hawaii with high expectations. This was our first family trip to Waikiki, and I spent a significant amount of time researching properties. We stayed at two other Hilton hotels nearby, but this property consistently received the most praise, which is why I wanted to experience it firsthand. I understand this is a very large resort, and with that comes complexity. To be fair, management appears to be doing a solid job maintaining cleanliness and staffing given the scale of the property. However, overall, the experience did not justify the price we paid. We used a combination of Hilton points and cash. I understand that team member rates are not available during peak season, and I paid a rate I would normally never pay for a Hilton stay elsewhere. For that price point, the resort felt extremely crowded, noisy, and impersonal. We paid extra for an upgraded room in the Rainbow Tower, yet did not receive the ocean view we specifically paid for. Instead, our view overlooked an area open to the public, where non-hotel guests regularly accessed the water. As a Gold member, I also did not feel particularly recognized or valued — especially since hotel amenities are freely accessible to non-guests. The hotel did attempt to acknowledge Gold members by issuing a “VIP” card for a designated fireworks viewing area during the Friday night show. While the gesture was appreciated, the execution fell short. The VIP viewing area was located at the pool, and frankly, there were better and less crowded viewing spots throughout the resort. It felt like an effort to provide something special for Gold members, but the experience itself did not feel elevated or exclusive. Another major drawback was the constant timeshare pressure. Guests attending timeshare presentations receive heavily discounted stays, and throughout our visit we were repeatedly approached by concierge staff encouraging us to attend tours. This detracted significantly from the overall resort experience, particularly when simply trying to walk through the lobby. The size of the property itself was also overwhelming. Navigating the resort often took 15–20 minutes to return to our room, with overcrowded elevators and, at times, only one elevator operational in our tower. While getting lost is partly on me, the logistical challenges added unnecessary frustration. In the end, while this resort is very well marketed and clearly successful at attracting volume, it did not deliver the elevated experience one would expect at this price — especially for loyal Hilton guests. I would not stay here again, as I can find better value elsewhere and still access the amenities without being a hotel guest.
