Why You Should Go

Tagged "The Thrill Capital of the World," Six Flags Magic Mountain is a dream destination for adrenaline junkies. Six Flags Magic Mountain offers high-speed fun with roller coasters like Goliath, Scream, and Ninja.

In addition, eager thrill-seekers line up for other rides such as Buccaneer, CraZanity, and Dive Devil. So many attractions in one place mean a Six Flags Magic Mountain map is a must! View one online before you go.

Pro Tip: The park's newest ride, WONDER WOMAN Flight of Courage, makes its debut in summer of 2022! This impressive roller coaster is the tallest and longest coaster in the world. So get in line if you dare!

The lengthy list of Six Flags Magic Mountain rides also caters to the kiddos. Beloved attractions like the Grand American Carousel and Pepe Le Pew's Tea Party will have them begging to ride over and over again!

Six Flags Magic Mountain Tickets

Our first piece of advice? Skip the ticket lines so you can get to the ride lines faster! Instead, purchase your tickets from Tripster online so you can show your tickets on your phone (or print off a paper copy before you go if you prefer!) as soon as you arrive at the gates.

Pro Tip: Another perk of purchasing from Tripster is that there are no online processing fees!

The Six Flags Magic Mountain FLASH Pass is one way to speed through ride lines. For an additional fee, this allows you to make ride reservations ahead of time. However, we recommend forgoing this pricey option and using more strategy when planning your day at the park instead!

When to Go

We have good news. The park is open year-round! This makes planning your visit a much easier feat. However, six Flags Magic Mountain hours vary, so check the attraction operating schedule and park calendar before your visit.

Unsure of when to visit? Let the crowds be your guide. Naturally, the park is in full swing in the summer months when kids are out of school, and the workforce goes on vacation. This is the busiest time of year.

You will likely encounter thinner crowds in the winter. However, hours are typically more limited during this time of year.

What to Know Before You Go

Even if you've never been to Six Flags Magic Mountain, you can navigate your day like a seasoned pro with these insider tips!

What to Bring

Pack your bag carefully! You don't want to be lugging unnecessary items around the park, but you also want to ensure you have everything you need.

Here are our recommended essentials:

  • Small backpack or bag
  • Valid ID
  • Cash/credit cards
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat
  • Towel (for the water park)

Dress Code

Dressing comfortably is a must for maximum fun! Keep in mind that Six Flags does not allow clothing with rude or offensive language or graphics. Additionally, swimsuits are only allowed inside the water park.

When visiting Six Flags Magic Mountain, the weather is something else to consider. You'll want to dress accordingly! It will likely be very toasty if you visit between June and August. If your visit falls between November and March, plan for cooler temps. The rest of the year is fairly mild.

Furthermore, comfortable shoes are crucial. We recommend tennis shoes or sandals with arch support. Opt for shoes with a back, or you'll have to take them off for several rides!

Growing Pains

This one's for the littles. Ride height requirements are known to cause some unfortunate snafus. However, these can be avoided! Make sure you know your children's heights before you go, so you can avoid wasting valuable time in line for rides they won't be able to ride.

Six Flags Magic Mountain also offers the Parent Swap service! This allows one parent to wait with a child who is not tall enough for a ride while the other parent rides. The parents can switch at the end, so both enjoy the ride!

Where to Eat

Running through the park, waiting in long lines, and using plenty of energy to scream at the top of your lungs on the roller coasters is bound to work up quite an appetite. Luckily, there are dining options galore located on-site! Theme park classics like turkey legs, cheeseburgers, and soft pretzels are sure to please.

Pro Tip: Beat the food lines so you can spend more time on attractions! Avoid restaurants at peak dining times. For example, they're bound to be swamped around noon at lunchtime and around 6 p.m. at dinnertime.
