"Mt. Vernon cruise with breakfast buffet "

My husband and I were interested in visiting Mt. Vernon, and in searching for travel tips, I found this tour. It is a slow cruise of the Potomac from the DC harbor to Mt. Vernon. For an additional $10, a breakfast buffet was available. Since we needed to be at the harbor fairly early it seemed like a good option. Boarding was quick and easy and the ship had lots of seating. On the lower decks, the seats are at dinner tables; on the upper deck, there are sofas and chairs. The buffet was quite good- there were many choices and it was an excellent value. There is also a cash bar available. Mt. Vernon was somewhat busy but not crowded. You can either walk about a half mile up the hill from the dock to the home, or there is a shuttle that will take you up. We waited about half an hour in line to tour the home with a timed ticket, provided as you exit the ship. We had enough time to tour the grounds, and there is also a museum, a shop, and a café at the property. The cruise back was a pleasant way to relax after touring the home and grounds, and we were back around 3 or 3:30. It was an enjoyable way to see Mt. Vernon without traffic or parking hassles.

My father and I took a quick weekend to visit Washington DC as he is never been there before and one of our activities was a breakfast buffet cruise up the Potomac River to Mount Vernon George Washington‘s estate upon the spirit of Mount Vernon. It was a beautiful relaxing three hour round-trip to visit our founding father and where he retired after serving his country as both the general of the union army and the United States of America!!!!

"Great trip on Spirit of Mount Vernon"

We took the Spirit of Mount Vernon cruise in mid September and it was absolutely delightful. We have been traveling to DC for decades and always wanted to get a sense of the city from the water. We also wanted to make a second trip to Mt. Vernon. This was a two-fer for us! The cruise was very scenic, the breakfast was delicious and of course the three hours at Mt. Vernon was just inspiring. All the cruise staff were gracious and solicitous and the narration was most informative.

Cruised the Potomac this past Saturday 9/7/19. AM cruise enjoyed the Brunch, however trip seemed very short, would've loved to have sailed longer, as it was a bit pricey for 2 hour ride.
