Starting June 11

Inspired by ase, the Yoruba concept relating to our power to produce change, Ase: Afro Frequencies celebrates the Black experience through the perspectives of artist Vince Fraser and poet Ursula Rucker. The exhibition is an immersive, interactive, incredible story that everyone should experience.

What are the hours of operation?

Open daily. Monday – Thursday 1 PM – 9 PM and the last session begins at 8 pm. From Friday - Sunday, hours are at 10 AM – 10 PM with the last session begins at 9 pm. Sessions are every 30 minutes and last for 60 minutes. Please arrive on time for your slot. Check the section above to see the availability of your preferred dates.

Where is it located?

ARTECHOUSE is located at 1238 Maryland Ave., SW Washington, DC 20024. A 5-10 minute walk from the Smithsonian and L’Enfant Plaza Metro stops.

Is the attraction appropriate for children?

ARTECHOUSE is happy to welcome visitors of all ages to enjoy the space, but certain exhibitions may include a recommended age due to the use of flashing lights, loud sounds, delicate materials, and the like. Because the exhibitions change throughout the year, it is suggested that visitors refer to the description of each new exhibition on the website for any age recommendations. Tickets are required for all visitors age 4 and up. Children ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult, and all children must be closely supervised by their accompanying adult to ensure their safety and the safety of the artwork.

Can I bring my bags and/or strollers with me?

Suitcases, luggage, large backpacks, and bags larger than 16” are not permitted in the exhibit space and cannot be checked or left with staff. Strollers are not permitted on the main exhibition floor; however, at ARTECHOUSE DC they can be left in the coatroom or locker area. Please note, these areas are not attended and ARTECHOUSE does not take any responsibility for any lost, missing, stolen, or damaged items.

Is the attraction wheelchair accessible?

ARTECHOUSE is home for innovative experimental art and is a fully-accessible space. Mobility devices such as wheelchairs and walkers are allowed on the exhibition floor. Some individual programs may have an intended use or method of interaction that may be difficult for some visitors, but each is nonetheless fully maneuverable and compliant with the ADA.

Can I bring my camera?

Photography for personal use is allowed, though we request that you refrain from using flash inside the ARTECHOUSE.

How long is the tour around the ARTECHOUSE?

Tickets are purchased for individual hour-long sessions. When space allows, visitors are welcome to remain with us past their hour-long session.

Can I bring my own food/beverages in the ARTECHOUSE?

To protect our technology on-site, outside food or beverages is not allowed inside the art space. Please dispose of any prior to your visit. Bottled water is permitted only in non-exhibit areas. No beverages are permitted on the main exhibition floor.
