We had great seats. The performance was great. The costumes, the set, and the music were all amazing. This show is great for all ages. The play is very similar to The Lion King cartoon with some adjustments to keep it current.

"Amazing Performance"

This is highly recommended for all ages. The costumes in the show are so creative and each actors character seems to fit their personality. The Lion King cartoon and this play are very similar, but it's still a tear jerker when Mufasa dies... The theater check-in was really easy with Reserve Direct E-ticket. The ushers are very helpful with getting you to your seats. One person in our group left their phone after the show and the theater had it waiting for us to pick-up the next day.

"Our first Broadway show, but not our last!"

My 14 yr old daughter and I recently visited NY and saw The Lion King. I had seen a few traveling shows, but she had never seen a live show, so we were very excited. We are huge fans of the movie, and couldn’t imagine how it would translate onto the stage. Needless to say, we were blown away! We sat in the balcony and I was worried about missing action taking place below, but (no spoilers) the way the show is choreographed, there is action no matter where you are seated. We had a great view of the percussionists, which was really cool to watch in addition to the acting on stage. We are so happy we chose this as our first show to see on Broadway! Can’t wait to come back and bring the rest of the family!

My family and I, with two school age kids, greatly enjoyed experiencing this musical recently. Broadway has some seriously great musicals, but this one seems to have become our new favorite. Quite a few things that make this stand out among other Broadway musicals, even among some really good ones, were (a) the creative and artistic puppetry and costumes were used to enable the performers portray animal characters on stage. The highlights for me were the elephants, the rhino, the giraffes, and the gazelles. Due to the way this story is realized for a live audience, there's an aesthetic to this production that was not present in the original 1990s Disney animated movie on which this stage adaptation is based. (b) the African music, especially the rhythm and the harmonious singing that predominates most of the score and the numbers, is a sheer joy. As it is not typical for Broadway, it's refreshing. (c) There are some classic, beloved numbers in this musical that are adapted from said original animated movie. Some are somewhat expanded upon or even modified a bit. The opening number and the finale are performed at a higher key than the movie version. "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" has a different ending from the original. (d) Some other modifications include Rafiki being female, and the characters are given more material and have more opportunities to show their depth. Nala now has her own song, and Simba gets another song. this time a solo. Mufasa and Rafiki have their own songs too. The hyenas also. And Scar, with assist from Zazu and Nala. When characters are given more room to show their motivations and development, the story is more engaging. For those who are already familiar with the soundtrack but have yet to see this show, be aware that "Morning Report" is not in it. It's been cut, as of quite some time ago. Also, "Madness of King Scar" is somewhat modified from the recorded soundtrack version. Loved loved loved this.

Loved loved Loved the lion king we came all the way from the UK to watch it on broadway Worth every penny it cost to get here The story is the same. Hey nothing needs changing right. The cast, the costumes, the scenery WOW.Truely magnificent. My one and only criticism has nothing to do with the production or the show its self. The Minskoff Theatre cup/drink policy, Now this had me scratch my head. So you go to the bar you buy a drink, wether that drink be beer or juice you get a lovely souvenir cup. Hard plastic with plastic lid you twist to open to drink. The issue... Every time you buy a drink you are given these cups, they will not refill. So I have ended up with 6 cups between my husband and myself that I'm going to have to take away with me squeezed in my hand luggege. In a world that is so conscious of global warning, climate change. The damage we our doing to our world how can this be justified. I asked the question to the bar tender. The answer is due to cross contamination. Yep you are contaminating everything if they have to handle the cup again after use. Come on Minskoff sort this out!
