Description

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a new play by Jack Thorne. It is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter, and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his headstrong youngest son, Albus, must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

Prepare for a mind-blowing race through time, spectacular spells, and an epic battle, all brought to life with the most astonishing theatrical magic ever seen on a Broadway stage. "You’ll be wondering 'how'd they do that?' for days to come." (People Magazine).

Experience the wizarding world like never before from the moment you arrive. The entire theatre has been transformed, with hidden surprises to discover around every corner. "It's a marvel of imagination, as magical as any spell or potion." (The New York Times).

AMAZING! The illusions and special effects were almost as good as the characters. Such a wonderful show. The whole family can enjoy this. We will see it again. Maybe with the grandchildren.

PARENTS of younger children...this play may or may not be for you. This is written not as a critique, but just a "heads up" for anyone wondering about the content of this play. As so many have written...the storyline is reasonably engaging. The theater is gorgeous. The staff was excellent. The magic and wow factor of the stage presentations were excellent (as are almost all Broadway productions). One beautifully treated element (teen/adult stuff) is the reality of the barriers that can develop between fathers and sons. But this is very thinly veiled gay love "coming out" story as well--and families looking strictly for children's entertainment should be aware of yet another cultural vehicle being sabotaged for this specific agenda. I am certainly not saying you should not see the play...but you should know what is coming as you decide whether or not to take your child/children.

The show was canceled due to a staff member fainting. You think they would have a second on hand. But it was horrible, coming all the way to NY and they canceled the show. Like WTF!!!!! I demand a discount if this happens cause it just means that staff is not prepared for situations

"Torture."

I am a big Harry potter fan, I expected this to be the best show of the ones I attended while in New York. The stage is absolutely great, the effects are fantastic and that’s where it ends.. I left midway through. They were expensive tickets but to have to stay for 3.5 hours would have been torture.
