Tip: It is difficult to see out of the west side of the building because the lines for the glass walkout windows were so long. Would suggest that they put glass walkout windows on every side to lessen the lines and make it available to more people as the lines are so long it isn't worth it to wait.

Arrived 10 minutes prior to opening and there was already a small line to get in. We bought our tickets through Expedia (via Quidco for an extra 15% discount). Although our printed paper tickets had a barcode we still had to exchange them at the ticket office before gaining entry. Once at the top you can join one of two lines for entry into anyone of the four boxes. Once in the box they take a picture which can be purchased later and then you have 90 seconds to enjoy the views. You can rejoin the lines and enter the boxes as many times as you like, which was great for us as the place was not that busy when we visited. The views are amazing with various landmarks pointed out via information boards. There is a small gift shop with the usual souvenirs. No visit to Chicago would be complete without a visit to the Willis Tower.

"Must see landmark but ...."

The Sky-deck is advertised as Chicago’s must see landmark and the building in itself is amazing. At over 101 stories it takes some time for the elevator to get to the top - even at 25 miles per hour. The real let-down was the journey up to the tower and the whole Sky-deck experience. You arrive at the ground floor and are then directed to take an escalator down to floors. You then make your way through bland “tunnels” to a room where you can watch a 2 minute slide show on its history to date. You then move onto the Disneyland-type lines and eventually get to the lift. A few minutes later you reach the 101st floor and my Disneyland lines. At last, after 10 minutes you get to the Sky-deck where you get to spend a whole 90 seconds standing on the glass floor looking down at the city below. Seriously this is a complete waste of your time and money - just a money making exercise for the tower owners.

Best place to see Chicago skyline. The views from up there are simply amazing. I enjoyed the history slide show while waiting in line. The elevator is quite fast too. The city lights are beautiful and I actually prefer seeing the city at night. The ledge as it’s called is a thick glass structure on the floor that extends out about 4 feet from the building and you can look straight down to the street below . It’s an awesome experience. I am scared of heights but the city view is so great. The building was originally known as Sears tower, it offers a great view of the city from all angles.. Do not miss it.
