The hotel's modern American tavern, Hoyt's, serves Midwestern-inspired dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also features views of the Chicago River. A business center, ballroom and meeting space are available on-site and valet parking for guest convenience.

The Royal Sonesta Chicago - Downtown is really good hotel. We visited Chicago with my family (wife and two daughters (15)) in early October. The hotel is in a great location close to all of the major sites in downtown. We had a double queen bed room that was massive. We also had great views of the river which is right now outside the hotel. The only drawbacks for the hotel are the bed and pillows are just ok. As frequent travel I have slept on much better beds. In addition, while the bathroom as very generous size the shower is kind of tight. I am person with broad shoulders and it was a little snug for my liking. Otherwise everything else about the place is great. The staff are welcoming and helpful. They only have one restaurant and we ate there for breakfast which was fine. But there so many other places close by for you to eat that you may never dine there. Overall, I would highly recommend this place if you are visiting Chicago for business or vacation.

Great convenient downtown business hotel. Close to CBD and close to great restaurants in River North. Super clean and friendly staff. They weren’t able to honor my Amex benefit with a late checkout or early check in and that was disappointing but not a dealbreaker.

Warning!!!!! The hotel is in a good location BUT the hotel service is horrible! We were greeted with mid experience at front desk! There’s no amenities! There’s no room service! The manager Taman asked if I wanted to scan a QR code to door dash?!???!!! I can do that myself! The cleaning is subpar at best! The cleaning service put dirty sheets on our bed! After I complained about dirty sheets a person just handed me new sheets instead of putting the new sheets on the bed!!! In other words they wanted me to take off the dirty sheets and put on a new set!!! I don’t work here!!! Who is running this establishment?!?!? This hotel is not cheap and Taman is not friendly!!!!

I would give this hotel 4.5 stars based on my latest visit. I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the years as it has changed ownership a number of times. I go for the view and location. It is my "go to" hotel in Chicago. This time I was upgraded for free, not sure why. They wanted my email address to sign me up for their loyalty program, but I am assuming there was some other unstated reason(s) that the upgrade was offered. nThe corner suite I got was very large. The view in the hosting area was incredible, but the bedroom only had an uninteresting city view. I received housekeeping service daily, and it was outstanding. It is a sad fact that many hotels do not perform daily housekeeping since Covid. Such a shame and this service was quite welcome. There were three negatives during my stay. One was the terribly poor lighting in the bathroom. While there was a make-up mirror, it was not lighted. The main mirror was not bright. I was in town for important social events and the lighting was insufficient to apply makeup. During the day, I had to go to the windows and cart my stuff there to be able to prepare for my events. This was a major hassle. At night, I was simply out of luck. The second negative thing I did not expect was a lack of room service. Yet, they have an on-site restaurant. The night I went down for a drink in their bar, they had closed early due to some unexplained problem. Lastly, I ordered delivery food one night and the front desk let someone else pick up my order. The food deliveries were on a counter behind the staff. They didn't even ask for a guest's name to pick up the food. My name was on my delivery, and they let someone else take my food. Fortunately, after waiting some minutes, the guy came back down the elevators with it. Clearly he noticed it was not the pizza he ordered. But needless to say, that was upsetting to think I could have lost my meal and then to know that some stranger opened up my food. The staff was negligent because there is an easy solution to this issue. Ask the name of the guest before handing something over.
