Description

from Muir Woods and Wine Country Day Tour
The day begins at 8:00 am, heading north across the Golden Gate Bridge, which offers sweeping views of San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz Island, and the city skyline. We wind our way through the coastal mountains of the Marin Headlands and past Mt. Tamalpais (the highest point in the North Bay region) on our way to Muir Woods National Monument.

The coastal redwood is the tallest tree species in the world. These trees only thrive in Northern California and Oregon, due to the thick fog that blankets the west coast in the summer months. In 1908, Senator William Kent and his wife donated their land to the state, and President Theodore Roosevelt designated it as a federally protected area. Muir Woods National Monument is the only surviving stand of old-growth redwood forest in the Bay Area.

You will have 1 - 1 1/2 hours to wander amongst these towering giants. The sights, sounds, and smells of this living museum are sure to reconnect you with a natural world that was almost lost. The group will reunite before noon and travel to wine country, where we will spend the afternoon sampling fine Sonoma County wines. Taste a variety of white, red, and dessert wines at wineries such as Homewood, Larson, Cline Cellars, and Robledo, among others.

Stop for a picnic lunch at a winery, or grab a bite in the historic Sonoma town square. In the town square (time permitting), you will have a chance to see Mission San Francisco de Solano, the northernmost California mission, sample cheeses at Sonoma Jack's Cheese Factory, and peruse the boutique shops of this quaint downtown.

Traveling through wine country, you will see the beautiful valleys where fantastic wines have been produced since before California was a part of the Union. The landscape of rolling hills laced with rows of grapevines is impressive and provides a romantic backdrop for memorable photographs.

In the early evening, you’ll have a chance to explore beautiful bay-side Sausalito, a quaint and artsy town with *amazing* views of the San Francisco skyline, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Angel Island!

The tour will end with a hotel drop-off at around 6:00 pm.

**Please note that due to conditions (special events, traffic) in Muir Woods and Wine Country and the small size of our vehicles/groups, we can allow our guides the flexibility to tailor your itinerary to best suit the needs of the group. While we guarantee that we’ll do our best to provide you with all of the highlights within this itinerary (conditions permitting), we do not guarantee them in this specific order. **

Went on the 1 day Yosemite tour from San Fran. The pictures you’ve seen just don’t do the place justice, you have to see it yourself to really appreciate it. Shoutout to Jill, our guide, who was very knowledgable about the geography and history of the park and provided great recommendations for walks once on the valley floor. I particularly enjoyed her conservationist/environmentalist viewpoint on things and learned about the wildlife (especially the bears) and the role of good forest fires for regeneration. Absolutely would not hesitate recommending Inc Adventures to anyone thinking about taking the tour of Yosemite! November was also a really good time to go because it’s a bit cooler and there aren’t the same crowds in the park.

I joined a group of 10 travelers on a 3 day Yosemite camping trip. The group was immediately very friendly and we all got along throughout the trip. Everything was as advertised and I can’t say enough great things about our guide Mikayla. She was knowledgeable, organized and always up for a chat. This tour was a great way to experience Yosemite. I would highly recommend.

Our driver/guide Randy was awesome. He knew all the details and all the best spots. His idea of an easy hike was not the same as some of the group though. If I had known Cedar lodge was so far out I would have stayed at the one close to the falls. Saves a lot of time however most of the group stayed at Cedar. The scenery is so beautiful and changes minute by minute as the sun koves so you just want to keep taking photo after photo. Take lots of water
