"Frustrating Room Issue That Should Have Been Fixed Properly"

After checking in and entering the room, I immediately discovered that the toilet flush was broken, so I requested maintenance. About 10 minutes later, someone came and fixed it in about two minutes. However, the problem happened again. When I opened the toilet tank lid, I found that the sensor was faulty and the water wasn’t refilling. When I lightly touched the sensor, the water started filling again. What really disappointed me was that when maintenance came the first time, they should have checked thoroughly and replaced the faulty part. Instead, they just touched the sensor and left, so for the next two days—both during the day and even in the middle of the night—I had to open the toilet lid more than 10 times to touch the sensor myself. I’ve never experienced anything like this, even when traveling in Southeast Asia. I never imagined I would have such an experience at a highly rated hotel that costs over $200 a night.

"A satisfying experience overall."

I had a very pleasant 3-day stay at the hotel. I arrived in the morning after a long trip from India. I had requested an early morning check-in but had been warned beforehand that the room might not be available. Mariana at the front desk was incredibly helpful and promptly assigned me a room, which significantly improved my stay. The staff was generally very helpful, and I had a very pleasant check-out experience with Jane as well. The hotel is nicely located. I had come to SFO for a conference at Moscone Center, and it was a nice 20-minute walk which did me a world of good. It is a short walk from the Embarcadero as well, with quite a few restaurants around. It is a little on the expensive side, but not a bad value for money.

"Inconsistent Quality"

I booked here while visiting my sister predominantly due to the price as it would be eligible for a reimbursement with my father's university. The hotel is located in a fairly central area near the Embarcadero and has easy access to public transit. The room was itself was small but not cramped. There was a desk area and a chair next to one of the beds. The furnishings were quite upscale despite the size of the room and the beds and pillows were both highly comfortable. The room's maintenance had some question marks however. The carpet near the door was stained and the air conditioning unit, made of wood, was chipped on the edges. The wall had black marks on it on the side opposite the bed and the side with the headboard was stained in various areas. The wall left of the window was chipping and dented. On the wood panelling above the desk, there was a sizable white stain of unidentified origin and the wood was scratched in several places. The bathroom was very similar to the room itself in that it was fairly small though adequate. Here again there were elements of up graded quality such as the C.O. Bigelow shower products but again the execution was off. The toilet was scratched and had what looked like gouge marks on the lid. The caulking of the tiles in the shower appeared to be extremely discoloured, though I don't suspect it was mold growth, and one of the lightbulbs flickered when switched on. The shower pressure was extremely good, I would have been impressed with that kind of water pressure in my own house. The hotel's restaurant on the first floor, Fish & Farm, was actually quite solid and not very expensive. The eggs were cooked well with a nice browning, the sausage and potatoes were decent, and the toast was nice and crisp. I'm fairly conflicted about this places. On one hand, the basic elements of a good 4 star hotel are there with the restaurant and the quality of the linens and furnishings. It's also consistently cheaper as although the price was fairly high (around $180) when we went there, it is pretty consistently cheaper than similar hotels near it. On the other hand, glaring issues with the maintenance of the rooms prevent me from going higher than three bubbles here.
