I stayed at the Monumental Hotel for three nights for a business trip and I honestly don't remember a time when I was so eager to leave a hotel. I get it - it's important for many travelers to be budget conscious when vacationing in the wallet-suck better known as "Orlando". The Monumental is cheap, but it's dirty, dark, worn and the worst bed I've ever slept in. I had to roll up towels to use as extra pillows. Seriously - you're better off bringing an airplane pillow and an air mattress with you before you arrive. The guy working the front desk was nice, but that was about it. The parking lot is way out back, and it's poorly lit. There was a terrible, mildew odor everywhere. There was a gap around my room's door that was so large I could have stuck my fingers through it. I wondered why I was the only person eating breakfast in their restaurant (no free breakfast here), and that question was quickly answered once I started eating eggs I wouldn't give to a dog. The hotel is definitely close to area attractions and restaurants - but it's also close to a lot of better hotels, including one under construction right next door.

Okay hotel; pictures are impressive. Room seemed dated and bathroom was spartan. Room was clean; hotel was quiet. Desk clerks were "hot or cold" some were friendly, some were rude. One clerk printed out tickets for me and was quite friendly and helpful. $220 per night seemed high in Orlando for a hotel compared to other average hotels.

I stayed for 16 nights it was lovely and quiet, okay the rooms need a little updating but the nice stay staff were very friendly. Breakfast is available at a fee if required. The parking lot had very powerful lights fitted whilst we were there and is very well lit. A great location for Disney and Premium Outlets. I would definitely stay again. Overall a pleasant stay

So here goes... upon approach in the early evening, the hotel itself looked like the beginning scene in a suspense movie. The hotel was dimly lit from the road and there were no cars in the entryway. The area where you pull up is misleading because there is no front desk or lobby in the immediate vicinity. You have to walk down the long hall filled with banquet/meeting rooms and turn a few corners before you hit the reception area. The check in was pleasant, quick, and friendly. Luckily the elevator bank was right off the lobby and we went straight to our room. First impression is that the room was spacious and roomy, but in need of some updating (ESPECIALLY the carpet). I must say it was clean, but the spots on the outdated carpet might lead you to think otherwise. The bed was extremely comfy, so that was a pleasant bonus. Our vehicle had to be moved to the back where the parking lot was and it brought to our attention that the parking, reception area, and lobby are all situated abnormally. Housekeeping was nice and thorough and the front desk staff was always eager and ready to assist. Overall the stay was pleasant and served our purpose and I would definitely stay here again.
