from The Buckhorn Museum and Texas Ranger Museum
For over 131 years, The Buckhorn Saloon has been known as a gathering place for good conversation, great food, and spectacular wildlife exhibits. Today, the saloon houses a Café, Gift Shop, Shooting Gallery, and our two museums, the Buckhorn Museum and the Texas Ranger Museum. Tickets purchased include admission to the Buckhorn Museum and Texas Ranger Museum.

The Buckhorn Museum:
The Buckhorn Museum features wildlife from all over the world, including fish from the seven seas, animals from every continent, and strange animal oddities that have been collected for over 100 years! Our exhibit halls are comprised of over 520 species of wildlife—many of which are record holders. The Buckhorn’s most prized record holder is the famous ‘78 Point Buck’. This impressive rack was sold to the saloon owner himself, Albert Friedrich, for a mere $100 dollars back in 1890. Other amazing specimens include a record 1,056-pound black marlin and a 10,000-year-old pre-historic Irish elk.

The Texas Ranger Museum
This world-class Texas Ranger exhibit offers the public the chance to see priceless historical artifacts that span more than a century of Ranger history. Notable Texas Rangers exhibited in the collection include Ray Martinez, Joaquin Jackson, John B. Armstrong, and Frank Hamer.

I was last there over 40 years ago and the location has changed. They are now in the center of SAn Antonio and not to be missed. All the mounted horns - and good brew also.

"Expensive but Fun!"

My husband and I visited this museum late Tuesday morning. It wasn’t very busy due to COVID19. It was pretty expensive for just the two of us, but they do have a lot of exhibits. The majority seemed to be wildlife. The stuffed deer heads were a bit much. The slanted area in the oddities exhibit was the most fun. I even decided to check out this exhibit twice. We’ll definitely be going again with our two boys. I think they’ll enjoy this museum a lot!

You really have to see to believe it!! LOTS of taxidermy but it adds to the ambiance and you can imagine the bar being part of an old Saloon. Great , Great Margaritas!!! Apparently, in Texas the BBQ is about the "smoke" and the beef brisket sandwich and pulled pork did not disappoint. Our bartenders were very nice and attentive too. Great landmark to see.

I went because it s iconic but stayed because it was both interesting and abundant. A museum with stuffed gorillas, historic guns and freak show memorabilia and more. A little beyond description. If you are interested in Texas Ranger history, taxidermy or wildlife you will probably love it. A nice touch is the explanations of how many animals met their demise.
