Romantic Things to Do in Gatlinburg

1) Get Cozy in a Cabin

What’s more romantic than a rustic yet luxurious for two? Nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg cabins provide the perfect escape for lovebirds. Be sure to reserve a cabin with a hot tub, and one with a view too. It will make your escape to the mountains that much sweeter.

2) Try a Massage for Two

Relax away the stress of the every day with your partner by your side. Gatlinburg spas like Serenity Spa at Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort and RiverStone Spa offer couples massages, while The Spa at Bear Cove Falls will visit your cabin and massage you and your sweetheart there. You could also stop into About You Day Spa, pick up massage oils, and treat each other to massages.

3) Unwind at Wineries, Breweries, and Distilleries

Downtown Gatlinburg has become a hot spot for moonshine makers and wine enthusiasts. Along the parkway, you’ll find a variety of places to sample legal moonshine and handcrafted wines. A few of my favorites include Ole Smoky Mountain Moonshine (try the apple pie moonshine) and the Sugarlands Distillery (sample the southern sweet tea). Of course, wine aficionados will be happy to sip of flavorful wines at Sugarland Cellars. Purchase a bottle of the Wiley Oakley to take back to your cabin, and maybe a jar or two of moonshine for a liquid souvenir. (I’ve brought both back in a suitcase and had no spillage issue.)

4) Reserve a Romantic Dinner for Two

You might not think of Gatlinburg as a top culinary destination, but you’d be wrong. A variety of Gatlinburg restaurants have exceptionally unique menus and romantic atmospheres for two. For a fancy night out, make a reservation at The Restaurant at Buckberry Lodge, The Park Grill or The Peddler’s Steakhouse. For something a little more low-key yet still romantic, try The Melting Pot.

5) Take Your Love to New Heights

You’re surrounded by mountains, which means you’re surrounded by sublime scenery. Take to the sky with Scenic Helicopters Tours for a truly breathtaking trip for two. With different routes available, your trip can be quick or long – and more affordable than you think. An alternate way to enjoy an aerial view of the mountains is the Ober Gatlinburg Tramway. The enclosed gondolas traverse two miles through the Smoky Mountains to the top of Mount Harrison. Snuggle up next to your honey and gaze at the mountains. They may even be snow-capped during February, adding to the ambiance.

6) Add Snow and Ice to Your Hot Date

Ober Gatlinburg has more than just an aerial tramway. The resort also offers snow skiing and tubing, as well as ice skating. Take your honey for a spin on the ice rink for a cool experience. Hold hands as you glide on the indoor rink, then up the ante with a round of snow tubing or skiing. Afterward, grab hot cocoa to warm up next to your one-and-only.
