"Christmas Getaway"
January 2020 NEW
The hotel and front desk staff were wonderful. The activities staff...not so wonderful. We attended several scheduled events only to find that the person in charge of the event made a decision not to have the event. We were told things like there was too many kids. I thought the reason to offer the event was to draw the kids to it. In the game room we asked for controllers for the video games the attendant half way pointed and said look over there. There was no controllers and all the board games had missing pieces. We love the Welks and have always loved taking our Christmas break trip there. This time I left a little disappointed. The breakfast buffet never disappoints!!

Tip: Not a huge water park but good for younger kids. Take money when you head to the splashatorium

"Noisy"
August 2019
To start with the beds are not queen size they are an oversized full. The noise above are room every night was like a Hurd if elephants till 1 or 2 am. But on a good note it was a very nice place for kids. The pool and slide was very nice. My granddaughter loved the activities at the pool but please make sure you take plenty of money with you because everything will cost you. The prices could be a little lower for the activities but still fun for the kids. The room we stayed in was not very clean the carpet was very worn and old.

"Good for children"
June 2019
Although it would be a good place for kids, the employees tended to not be so friendly, the rooms had a moldy smell and mold could be seen in the bathrooms. I had two different rooms on two different floors and both had the same problems

"Sadly disappointed"
December 2018
Although the staff was friendly and professional, I was sadly disappointed in the accommodations. The rooms were at best, mediocre. Not what I would expect after reading the descriptions on the Welk website and paying their rates. Even more frustrating was not having any hot water for a shower! After Letting the water “run until the water gets hot”, as told to do so by a gentleman at the front desk, an hour later the water was still cold and I no longer had the time to shower before our reserved dinner show. Needless to say, we won’t be back!

"Excellent Adventure!!!"
August 2018
This was my first time planning my family vacation. Everything worked perfectly! We had no issues at all. We got there, checked in, and they put us in a room right next to my aunt who was just passing through. The rooms were a tad on the smaller side, but who really spends a lot time in their room anyway? There is so much to do at the hotel! There is a list of events everywhere to make sure you don't miss a thing. The Splashatorium is pretty awesome, even for us adults! There is a smaller pool on the backside of the hotel too, which was usually less crowded and great for family wading. The rooms were clean, however, the beds weren't the most comfortable, but we all know nothing compares to our own! The breakfast buffet is great! Definitely worth the cost. Fill up early and spend less later! I would totally recommend this resort and we will stay there again for sure! P.S. If address the concierge regarding the timeshare mumbo jumbo upfront, they won't bother you again ;)

"Great experience!!"
July 2018
We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed the set up. They have activities lined up all day so even if you don't have plans you can still have fun there. My kids as well as my husband and I loved the splashatorium. The staff was super friendly and always helpful.

It was good overall but the water from the splash park dryed up in my throat and I couldn’t eat my dinner. I loved the breakfast. The Minnie golf was amazing. The rooms were pretty good. But the activities center was not as fun as I thought it would be.

The hotel has nothing special except for one water slide and way too little amenities for the price. The water park is separate building for the price they could do way better. The water park could be more fun

I stayed at this establishment on New Years Eve 2019. We arrived at approximately 15:30 for check-in and was told that the room was not ready, but was assured we would receive a telephone call when it was. Telephone number confirmed. At 16:30 we had not received notice from the hotel (official check-in time was 16:00); I attempted to call. At that point, I was transferred to a voice mail and then hung up on 2xs. On the third call, I asked to speak to a manager, which I received a male that told me to "come back to the hotel and we could get the room keys." When we arrived back at the hotel, maybe 30 mins, after the call Ambi, (may have been Gami, or Bami) was at the desk with an attitude and said "so I guess you are upset! Well we tried to call!" No apology was given, nor was a telephone call or vmail ever received. The room and pool areas were smaller then advertised, but I do think the website should mentioned that guest have to walk outside in the elements in order to reach breakfast and the indoor pool/activities. The room refrigerator was not cold, and the room stated warm. Several golf cart drivers did not stop when we attempted to wave them down, as we ended up parking quite a ways from the hotel lobby. When we called the front desk to inquiry about room service and fire works the attendant was rude and dismissive. The shower water did not get extremely hot. At check-out I overheard another guest complaining that breakfast had been cancelled for the rest of the week and she had already paid for it. Additionally, the Active Duty military discount Ambi, (Again may have been Bami, or Gami) promised during check-in (which she pulled out a calculator and computed for 7 mins) was not applied.

Greeted with “we have a clean room on the x floor” and “checkout is at 10” (“terrific” while traveling with an exhausted kid). Well, if this was the clean one I don’t want to see the dirty ones. Shabby ‘70s curtains screaming to be washed, noisy fan, carpet where decades of dust must be contributing to the brown color (my asthma and nose let me know within a minute that dust mites rule here). The bathroom sink is cracked, the minute bottles of shampoo (?) have indecifrabile labels. No bottled water - in the whole property (I did try to pay for it) - and tap has the rotten egg aftertaste that filters have saved the rest of us from (over the 3 decades that this place has missed). The “activity center” turns out to be a room, the size of my kitchen, where you get charged 5-15$ Per 30-60 min to do..cookie decorations, sundaes.. exactly what you’d do in your kitchen (if the stove were broken). After they try to sell you a timeshare (and you think “no one has convicted me to serve time in this - thanks I’ll pass”) you find that DVD players are for rent (or 19$ in any superstore), that nobody but room service (understaffed but very good) will come to your room to help, that there are no fliers on the town’s activities and attractions to guide the novice to the area.. and the indoor pool requires a very much outdoor excursion to be reached (!!!). After the alarm randomly goes off at 5 am, you will wait for breakfast to open hours later, then rush to make it to the buffet (10$/person pre-paid..darn), right before being kicked out ...and think: there is no place like home!

Booked a family Christmas vacation for myself, 2 daughters, granddaughter, son in law and mother in law.Such a disappointment!!! On fb, it shows a indoor water park, not hardly! There’s one big slide that was over height limits for 2 yr old, a freezing pool that she / we tried to swim in last fri, sat, and Sunday nights, turned her lips blue( not exaggerating), and we couldn’t tolerate the frigid temperatures as well! Our bathroom ceiling had a big crack in it, and the shower knob was extremely hard to turn. The had some scheduled little activities, all for a price! Never ever again would I think of using the Welks!!!
