"Nice hotel, but very little hot water"

We rented a room at BLVD for a night as part of a day trip to L.A. from our vacation in San Diego. Overall, we were pleased with the room - clean, modern, the bed was comfortable and slept well. Check-in was easy and the location was great. Our one BIG complaint was the lack of hot water. My boyfriend and I stayed in the room, and I took a shower first. About six minutes into my shower, I noticed the water starting to get cooler, so I turned the knob to make the shower a little hotter. My shower lasted about 11 minutes, and after about ten minutes, and two bump ups on the water temperature, there was no more hot water and I had it on as hot as it would go. My boyfriend got in the shower about 10 minutes after me, and he had NO hot water. Needless to say, he was NOT happy. While we would have given this hotel five stars based on our stay, the lack of hot water was just unacceptable.

"Good Spot"

Easy to get to off from the 101, covered parking and very close to Universal Studios. The rooms were clean and have enough room for a family of four. If your on the side opposite of the street you will see nothing but a giant wall if you open your blinds. They don’t mention the $31 a night parking so budget for that. They have a small bar area where I never saw more than person sitting. I was worried about the short walk from the hotel to US but there are many others making the SHORT (5 min) trek to the shuttle at all times. There is a pretty large homeless population in the area but no one even looked our way. While were there, they were shooting a music video in the parking garage- Hollywood!

Great little hotel for good price. Big rooms, little cafe & bar downstairs & friendly staff. They had room ready when we arrived at 10am & let us check in instead of just leaving bags there.Great location for Universal studio visit.

"Beautiful property just down the hill from Universal/ Harry Potter"

Read several reviews before we booked at this hotel, and there were several that complained of smells, homeless people etc etc. We found the hotel was very beautiful, the room was exceptionally spacious, very clean staff was friendly and casual, location was amazing. The only smell we smelled were cleaning fragrances which may have been offensive to some but to us just meant that the place was well kept. As far as the homeless there was a homeless Camp across the street on the freeway on-ramp but you can't blame the hotel for the social ills of the city. The location was within walking distance to the shuttle that takes you up to Universal Studios. The only the only gotcha that we were aware of before we got there is the fee for parking seems a bit excessive and there was also some extra fee that was added at the end of this stay, other than that this is an excellent property. Parking at Universal was 25 to $50 as well so the $31 that you're charged at the hotel is comprable but still excessive as far as I'm concerned.
