I’ve been to several luaus and this beats them all! I’ve been to Luau Kalamaku three times now and always recommend this one to anyone traveling to Kauai as a must see. If you’re looking for authentic, you’ll find it here. I also recommend the train ride, especially if you have kids. This luau is a great experience EVERY time!

Only issue was I could not understand all the words that were spoken over the intercom. This made it harder to follow the story line. Food was okay.

Enjoyed every bit of it. Especially because I was able to bring my mom, whom was her first time attending this luau on Kauai after living her whole life! The schedule and itinerary was right on time, and I really enjoyed that. The check in,hosts, MC, waitresses/waiters, bartenders, and everyone involved did and continue to do an excellent job. Enjoyed the vendors and crafters as well. I would recommend this luau to anyone visiting, or even locals on island and elsewhere.

Loved the storytelling theme. Loved the dancing and flaming fire acts. It was a beautiful show and experience. The food was exceptionally delicious and what person does not love an open bar. It was well worth the money.

Where is the luau located?

The Lu`au Kalamaku is located on the grounds of the Kilohana Plantation just west of Lihue along Highway 50 at 3-2087 Kaumualii Hwy, Lihue, Kauai, HI 96766.

How early should I arrive?

Please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled start time to allow for parking, check-in, and exploring the venue. If availing round-trip transportation, plan for an earlier pickup to ensure a smooth arrival. For those availing of the train ride or interested in the artisan craft fair, arriving even earlier is recommended.

How long is this experience?

Plan on spending about 3.5 to 5 hours total.

Is the luau suitable for children?

Luau Kalamaku offers Hawaiian, Silver, and Gold Packages to suit different preferences. The Hawaiian Package includes standard seating, while Silver offers elevated views and Gold provides premier seating near the stage. Packages can also include round-trip transportation, a scenic train ride, or both for added convenience.

Is hotel transportation included?

Roundtrip transportation to and from the show is included with select packages only. See package options above for details. If you select a package that includes hotel pick-up, please contact the number on your e-ticket to schedule the pick-up time.

What is the optional train ride?

The Plantation Railway Train Ride is a 40-minute narrated tour of the historic Kilohana Plantation grounds aboard a full-size train. You'll pass stands of original island crops like mango, banana, papaya, pineapple and more, plus a stop to spend some time feeding pigs and goats. It's fun for all ages. This feature is only available for select packages with a train ride option.

What is the boarding time for the optional train ride?

The optional Train Ride boards approximately 130 minutes (a little over 2 hours) before the main luau show begins at the Depot. Please note that the Kilohana Plantation Train Ride package is separate from the round-trip transportation package.

What should I wear to the luau?

Wear weather-appropriate attire and footwear. As the event is held outdoors, consider bringing a light jacket.

Does the luau operate in inclement weather?

Yes, the luau operates rain or shine since it is held in a covered, open-air pavilion. In cases of severe weather, the luau may adjust or cancel performances for safety.
