"Most excellent welcome"

This Sheraton stands out for many reasons, but the primary thin is the professionalism, helpfulness, and incredible warmth and service of their staff. Our experience with Micah at reception, in particular, began our stay in the best of possible ways. His knowledge and genuinely friendly welcome created an environment of trust and true aloha. We had stayed here when it was the Courtyard, the Sheraton experience was above and beyond any previous stay, and although our stay this time was short there is no doubt we will be back--and hopefully have Micah to welcome us again!!!

"Excellent Stay, but if beach is priority, look elsewhere"

Overall, we had a great stay. Location: nice location, close to the airport (about 12 min) you'll see a lot of airline staff stay there. It's beachfront, but dont plan on going in the water. They have some chairs and hammocks to sit in to relax on the beach, though. There is a Longs Drugs (cvs) walking distance from the hotel as well as a walking path to the Coconut Marketplace that has food and shops. Also close to McDonalds and other food options. Front desk: pleasant interaction w them. Was quick and efficient to get to our room. They have bands, which makes it easy to not lose your room key. Breakfast: As we have marriott status, we got the basic breakfast complimentary, which was sufficient for us. It included pastries, fruit, and cold foods. What made it awesome was the made to order omelets. (You can upgrade to the full buffet that has more hot options for an additional fee). The Kids menu was $10 and was excellent and enough food for a young one. Pool: Pool is nice. It's small but didn't feel crowded. With the jetlag, grabbing pool chairs was not an issue. They also had some outdoor games on the lawn we utilized now. Resort fee: includes parking, rentals for bikes, beach chairs/umbrellas for when u go off property. They do have the hula and ukulele lessons offered 2x/ wk. Laundry: they do have a few laundry machines. Old school ones. $4 each, but it does the job. Room: we had an Oceanview room. Balcony is tiny but still able to sit outside. It had nice decor and housekeeping is every day. The only thing I'd say can use some love is the bathroom tub. Coffee shop in the lobby: AWESOME! STAFF IS EXCELLENT! They have an ube macnut latte to die for. Surprisingly, I couldn't find that flavor anywhere else on the island. Only wish it was open longer. It closes early.

"Disappointing Birthday Trip"
TripAdvisor user rating 2.0 out of 5
Reviewed September 01, 2025 NEW
I wanted to give this resort a chance even though some of the reviews did mention some concerning issues. In particular, another review mentioned that this hotel is not a good place to celebrate a special occasion. I wholeheartedly agree with this statement as I informed the hotel / front desk that I would be celebrating my birthday and I even inquired about any special welcome amenities. Not once did any staff member wish me a happy birthday at anytime during my 3 day stay. As for the rooms- they’re small and run down, the AC does not turn off all the way, and the “ocean view” room I booked should really just be considered a partial ocean view. Also, this hotel does not take good care of any Marriott loyalty members, and I was not offered any sort of upgrade not even a paid one. The hand towel hook was falling off the wall, and would fall onto the sink every time we left the room. In addition, the hallways outside my room were always dirty and trash(rotten fruit that smelled) was left outside a neighboring room during the ENTIRE weekend. I had to pass by the rotten fruit plate anytime I went to leave my room. The pool area is nice, but always crowded and it’s difficult to find a chair. The furniture/ chairs themselves are dilapidated- I hurt my wrist when a screw came out of a pool chair while I was turning around. This is very dangerous, and if I weighed more this could’ve been a really bad accident, the whole right side of the chair came loose. As for the staff- the server I had my first morning there (8/30) for the breakfast buffet was rude. She asked if my family had vouchers for the breakfast, and made it seem like we should not be eating there. I reassured her that upon check in, the front desk agent told us we had free breakfast for 2 guests, and that I would just pay the difference for a third. She still insisted that I show her a voucher and even left to go find one to show me even though I told her I’m a Bonvoy Gold member. She responded by saying “oh you’re gold and not titanium?” This was very offensive, and I did not appreciate her tone. I also noticed that she did not ask other guests that were siting near us for their vouchers. It’s almost as if she assumed we snuck into the buffet or something. Very odd Overall, the 2 stars are simply for the location and the outside areas of the hotel. The service is lacking, and is not up to Marriott standard. Disappointing

"Hawaiian Disaster"

The location and view are beautiful, but this was nowhere near the 4-star experience advertised. What we got felt closer to a Motel 8 level of care — only at luxury pricing. Room & Maintenance: Our shower was clogged and never fixed, the A/C never cooled the room below 74° even at night, the Wi-Fi was too slow to use, and the TV didn’t work. We waited hours just to have the A/C looked at, and ultimately gave up reporting further issues because we didn’t want to spend our entire trip dealing with maintenance. Safety & Staff Conduct: The most disturbing part was an interaction with one of the hotel engineers. When we asked him to fix the A/C, he laughed in our faces, refused to leave the room when told to multiple times, and created a genuinely unsafe and frightening environment. Management assured us it would be “handled,” yet we saw him working on the property days later. This left us feeling completely unprotected and unsafe for the rest of our stay. Dining & Service: The Crooked Surf restaurant had extremely rude service. One server snapped “WHAT DO YOU WANT?” at me when I politely greeted her. Another refused to serve us at 9:15 p.m. even though the kitchen was open until 10. Bartenders were fine, but the servers were consistently unprofessional. At Fire Hen, the menu was stripped down to two items, and most of the week they were even out of chicken tenders, leaving only one item available. The food overall was basic fried bar food — certainly not worth the resort pricing. Overall: While the location itself is nice and felt safe from a crime standpoint, the resort’s staff behavior, lack of accountability, unresolved maintenance problems, and poor dining options put a major stain on our stay. These aren’t isolated issues — reviews for months have mentioned the same problems, and management clearly isn’t addressing them. For anyone considering this hotel: be aware that you’re paying 4-star rates for 1- to 2-star service and a potentially unsafe environment. I cannot recommend staying here.
