Experience an authentic, laid-back Key West experience as you explore a secluded paradise in the Florida Keys backcountry. Fury's Island Adventure Eco Tour will transport you by a custom-built spacious power catamaran to a remote sanctuary few tourists know about. Tucked away between mangrove islands, shallow sandbars, and clear, calm turquoise waters, you'll spend the day like a local, enjoying the opportunity to paddleboard, kayak, snorkel, or simply relax on the sandbar with your toes in the sand.

You'll travel through Key West’s lake passage, surrounded by lush mangrove islands that create a smooth and scenic ride. Onboard naturalists share their knowledge of the area and its indigenous wildlife, such as bottlenose dolphins and sea turtles, along the way. The exact way points of each trip are at the captain's discretion as it all depends on which way the tide is rolling.

What should I bring?

Please bring a valid government issued photo ID, along with a towel, bathing suit, sun protective clothing, waterproof shoes or sandals, a refillable water bottle, and cash for gratuities.

Is parking provided?

Parking is not provided at Fury Water Adventures, however there is street parking, pay to park lots, and parking garages nearby.

What food and drinks are provided on the Island Adventure Tour?

Fury serves Dill Chicken Salad on Croissant, Key West Chicken with Rice & Mango Salsa, Garden Salad with White Balsamic Dressing, Smoked Fish Dip with Crackers, fresh fruit, fresh vegetable platter with hummus and gourmet cookies for lunch. Water and soda are available before you snorkel and beer and wine are available after all activities have been completed.

Can I bring my own food?

You are more than welcome to bring food with you, just as long nothing is in a glass container and it fits in a small soft cooler.

Are life jackets provided?

Life jackets are onboard for everyone in case of emergency. Guests are also provided with Buoyancy Compensators for snorkeling.

Is the snorkeling different from the standard Fury reef snorkeling trips?

Yes, this trip takes you to the backcountry in the Gulf of Mexico. You will snorkel patch coral and sponge gardens with the possibility of Spotting Stingrays, Juvenile Fish, Sea Fans, Sea Rods, Sponges, and Isolated Coral Formations.

Are wetsuits provided?

Wetsuits are available seasonally with limited sizing (cash or credit).

Is there shade on the boat?

Yes, there is a portion of shaded seating on the boat; however, it is a very good idea to wear reef safe sunscreen and sun protective clothing.

Is there easy access in and out of the ocean?

Yes, the catamaran has a ladder to the sea, which makes it very easy for you to get on and off the catamaran. The captain may also open a gate on the side of the catamaran for experienced guests to jump in.

What wildlife might we see on this trip?

On some occasions you may see dolphins while heading out to the snorkel destination and the possibility of Spotting Stingrays, Juvenile Fish, Sea Fans, Sea Rods, Sponges, and Coral Formations while snorkeling.

Is this tour educational?

Yes, the Fury crew explains what you will see while you are in the Florida Keys Sanctuary. They will also guide you on the kayaking tour in and around the mangroves.

What is a Mangrove?

Mangroves are trees and shrubs that grow in tropical coastal areas, and typically have numerous entangled roots above ground. Mangroves help protect the shoreline by serving as a storm buffer and reducing wind and wave action in shallow areas. They also help prevent erosion by stabilizing the shoreline and line more than 1,800 miles of Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.

Is instruction on how to snorkel, kayak and paddle board provided?

The Fury crew will provide detailed snorkel instructions as you sail out to the backcountry. They will go over the best practices and safe snorkel procedures for your day at the reef. They will also go over how to properly use that kayak and paddle boards.

Is there shade on the boat?

Yes, but the space is limited in the shaded areas.

What is the difference between paddle boarding and kayaking?

Paddle boarding requires a good amount of balance and you can either sit or stand on the board and use a paddle to maneuver. Kayaking requires you to sit and maneuver through the water with a paddle as well.

Can I bring my pet?

Fury allows ADA service animals only. The work performed must be directly related to the individual's disability. According to the ADA service animals for emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companionship are not considered service animals. The guest requiring the service animal must be in possession of the animal at all times. Due to the nature of Fury tours, the guest and service animal may be required to remain on the boat for the entirety of the tour.

Do I need to know how to swim to participate in the Key West Island Adventure Eco Tour?

You must know how to swim to participate in any snorkel adventure. Once in the ocean, there will not be a place for you to touch or stand, while snorkeling. All guests will receive flotation devices for their safety. Fury crew is present to assist in an emergency, but will not be able to solely attend to one party for the duration of the trip. Guests are also always welcome to relax and enjoy the amenities aboard the catamaran during the snorkel portion of the tour.
