"Average Stay - It's nice but we like Powhatan Resort Better"

My wife and I visited Williamsburg over President’s Day weekend with our adult daughter to visit our younger daughter in college. Here’s a summary of the pros and cons of Greensprings. On previous trips to Williamsburg, we’ve stayed at the neighboring Powhatan Resort, which is also an HGV property, so some of this review compares the two. Pros: The property is beautiful and well maintained. Our ground-floor two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite with a kitchen and dining area was very spacious and comfortable. The master bathroom was extremely large, with a double-sized soaking tub and a separate stall shower. We used the hot tub at the pool, and the entire pool area and locker rooms were clean and well kept. The beds were extremely comfortable. I slept as well as I do in my own bed at home. I also used the gym, which is in fantastic condition. All of the equipment was working properly. It was February, so we couldn’t use the outdoor pool, but it’s large and very nice — actually nicer than the outdoor pool at Powhatan. This property is smaller and easier to get around compared to Powhatan, which is several times larger. Great value. I booked six months in advance and was able to secure an incredible rate of $84 per night plus the $25 resort fee. For a two-bedroom suite, that price was outstanding. Cons: There were ants in the master bathroom around the soaking tub. I didn’t make a big deal about it or contact management, as I figured it was just one of those things that occasionally happens. The ants were limited to the tub area and nowhere else in the suite, but I wanted to mention it since some reviewers might consider that a significant issue. The way the TV was mounted on the wall in the living room made it impossible to access the HDMI ports and connect my Roku player. I realize this is somewhat of a minor issue, but when we’re at a resort with downtime, I like having access to my own streaming options rather than being limited to the hotel channels. We didn’t have this issue at Powhatan. There were a few minor maintenance issues, such as small holes in the rug. Nothing major, but the property could use a bit more attention to detail. There’s no on-site restaurant, unlike Powhatan — though that’s understandable given that Greensprings is a smaller property. Overall: We had a good stay and found many things to like about Greensprings, especially the value, comfort, and amenities. However, based on our personal preferences and past experience, we slightly prefer Powhatan Resort and will likely stay there on future trips.

Resort ok. Beds comfy. Amenities fee is outrageous. $196 for the week and indoor hottub was closed for cleaning. Didn't use any amenities! Rip off! Kitchen equipment is sparse--if you cook better bring your own skillets and pans. Ok place to stay while enjoying the area and restaurants. Timeshare pitch was easy and $300 offer came in handy.

The resort is laid out nicely and the units have a lot of room. While it is a few miles from Historic Williamsburg, the drive is easy. We have stayed here once before and the reason I didn't give it all 5's this time is because they are undergoing renovations to the units. We previously had a newly renovated unit, so we had no issues. This time we had a unit that was in the last batch of units to be scheduled for renovation. As a result, we had a few mechanical/cleaning issues and after reporting them were promptly taken care of so there were no lingering problems.

The resort was very nice and loved the location. The hot water heater was only doing cold water for the sinks and the showers so we called front desk and they had them come out and look at it and that was fixed and then the next day the washer didn't work it was running all day and they came back again and said that we had it to heavy ( like people don't know how to do laundry). Evey time you would cook anything in there the fire alarms would go off and then you call the front desk and tell them no one would answer so my husband ran over there and told them, and they said thanks for letting us know because if no one comes and tells us we wouldn't know if the house is on fire or the alarm is going off because we don't have system that is hooked up to the front desk or fire department. then i had to calm down my special needs children when the alarms go off because they have noise sensitivity because they are autistic and nothing beats when it went off at 630 am woke my kids up and them screaming. The neighbors are really rude. They never came to give us new towels or toilet paper and everything that we called for. we left all the towels out in the hall by our door. The halls weren't vacuum and then founding snakes everywhere on the grounds even in the pool there was a black 10-foot snack on the volleyball pit and on the golf course (had to drive an hour to go to mini gold and pay a lot of money because there were snakes on the course. Not enough dishes for a family of 6. My son wanted ice cream from the front desk and when we brought it was slimy and then we had to go get him ice cream from the machine and pay 9 dollars that's crazy and now fighting with them about my DEPOSIT because I still don't have it and I been home week and a day and I call the front desk and they said that they don't know what to tell me about the refund and the mangers are all busy. i been calling them everyday to talk to a manger does anyone know who i can talk to about my refund because it shouldnt take this long to get it back
