Wyndham Garden Williamsburg Busch Gardens Area in Williamsburg, VA

The computer was down so we had to check in via text. When the desk agent was handed my phone he checked the 5 star rating and then denied it when we called him on it. The lack of cars in the parking lot should have been a clue, but we arrived at midnight and had been traveling since 2am and were exhausted. The lobby looked ok but we quickly discovered they are in the middle of a bad remodel! The elevator area smelled like exhaust. The room was dark and dirty. The bathroom was a nightmare and the undersized toilet seat was only fastened on one side. The new shower head was quickly overshadowed by the shower install. The shower flooded the small closet sized room. The newer electrical outlets were not compatible with AC/DC plugs and we didn’t have a converter. If we hadn’t have been so tired we would’ve left after stepping into the room. The photos we saw on the website are not from this hotel!

Fun weekend trip to Busch Gardens and our hotels was within a couple of miles. Very convenient. Room was nice and quiet and breakfast was delicious. We would definitely stay again and would recommend this Wyndham Garden hotel to our friends and family.

This hotel is trying to upgrade itself (as of Dec 2024), so it's a weird mix of nice and cruddy elements. The main lobby is gorgeous, and the bathroom had a very nice shower head with good range of temperature and water pressure. But the price was high (probably trying to raise money to finish their renovations) and other elements (carpet, curtains) were clearly stained and old. Some items were clearly halfway through a transition-- The TVs are very nice flatscreen Fire TVs that are hooked up to a dish cable package with about 40-50 channels and nothing else, and they regularly prompt you with a full-screen popup of the hotel's wifi "landing page" (even if you work out how to enter the wifi password using the fire remote). More importantly, the support staff are clearly accustomed to running a much lower-tier type of hotel. A few gems: - They stopped replenishing breakfast items nearly an hour before the breakfast was to finish (I was down at 8:47am for the breakfast that closed at 9:30am and the bread/bagel/muffin area was two slices of toast) - They clearly aren't cleaning the rooms well (a cursory look through on arrival turned up dead bugs under the chair and someone else's baby bottle, full of milk and frozen, in the minifridge). - I called front desk to ask for help with the TV (expecting them to provide advice over the phone). The guy on the other end said he'd be up in a few minutes (pleasant surprise!). He didn't come. I later looked up from my book and realized that it'd been ~50mins since I called, so I ended up going downstairs to him. I'd have understood if he called to say he was busy (or just told me what to do over the phone), but to just go incommunicado like that is... not good.

The rooms smelled funny and no one came to clean or change towels or make beds during our entire stay. The safe had no lock on it. Breakfast was terrible—all the food tasted old and stale and they had problems with the water line to their coffee machine 2 days in a row.The staff was friendly but we will not stay here again.

Didn't have a microwave. The breakfast was pathetic even for a continental breakfast and toaster didn't work. The bed was comfortable fir a budget hotel chain. THe storaf=ge space was good except did not have any hangers, but went to front desk and the person at the desk did come by our room wit some hangers in a timely manner.
