"Bad Experience"
August 2019 NEW
I will never choose this hotel again. All the breakfast was great. Our rooms smelled really bad like mold. Hair dryer in neither one of the rooms was working. No one never came to service our rooms. We had to find housekeepers in the halls and ask for towels, etc., I address it to the front desk clerk and she told me I will have to talk to Tripster. We did a lot of waiting for the elevator. This was my second time visiting Branson and this hotel was very disappointing.

"Wonderful experience"

The Grand Plaza Hotel was exactly what it said. The room was comfortable and clean. The in room jacuzzi was just what we needed after a long drive. When I did have a small problem, the front desk staff took care of the problem quickly. It was quiet and relaxing. The breakfast was a great way to start the day and the pub was a great way to end it. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

We will not choose this hotel again because it is on the side of a mountain and walking to nd from the car is very difficult. Also the room smelled musty, not vent in the bathroom and the soap and shampoo was difficult to use. Also, two small elevators for that huge hotel, waited a lot.

Terrible stay, don't waste your time with big fancy hotels. Had this place reserved for 5 of my 6 nights in Branson. Room service never came my first full day, came the second day but didn't leave any toilet paper. Shower curtain was way too tall for the shower, layed about 5 inches into the bathtub creating a slip hazard. Biggest problem was everything in the room was damp, nothing would dry. So much moisture in the air with no air movement. 4 of us showering with no exhaust fan then coming back to the room wet from swimming and wet from doing things on the strip could not get anything dry. Had a beach towel hanging up for 72 hours and still wasn't dry entire room was musty every piece of paper in the room was full of moisture. Checked out 2 days early and went back to the $57/night motel I stayed in my first night here.

I know that I can't expect all hotels to be perfect, but no Thursday Night Football that we rushed back to the hotel to see... no gluten free choices at breakfast... the mattresses are old and worn out (my back regrets it). The antiquated AC unit makes too much noise too. This place need some renovating. The bed is the most important thing about a hotel, yet a lot of these don't change them for 30 years, when they should be replaced in 8 to 10.

"Needs a renovation badly"

This hotel is long overdue for a renovation. I understand that twenty years ago it was a Ramada Inn, and that's probably when it was at its best. There was mold on the wall of our room, and I left with over 50 bites that might be mosquitoes or might be bed bugs - I'm leaning towards bed bugs. The room was musty smelling and damp all the time. The wallpaper showed streaks from the moisture in the air. There is no air circulation and the window unit air conditioner made a horrible noise every time the compressor turned on. The Wifi didn't work in most areas of the room, although if you were near the wall closest to the main hall of the hotel you could get it to work. The door to the bathroom appeared to be rotting out from underneath. In hindsight, we should have left as soon as we checked in.

The location was nice and easy to get to. We had to park out back and walk up several steps to get to the hotel. They need to do some repairs, train their staff in the breakfast area to not close up until time to do so, extend the breakfast time because it is on the 9th floor and the elevators take forever to get there. Our air conditioner was musty smelling and extremely noisy. I turned it off so I could sleep.

I had my doubts from all the bad reviews but we loved it!! We weren't offered the special package they had going on but that was fine, I didn't want to be bothered. We found it very easy to drop off passengers and packages at the back and park. Very sound proof and while the parking can be challenge there was only one day I had to park in the lower front part. Kinda nice, could see my vehicle all night. We loved the pool and hot tub and hours! They were very accommodating and the view was amazing! We will be back!

To start, I will preface this review with the fact that this hotel was chosen as a part of a group stay in Branson. I did not choose this location/nor would I have ever. Here are my thoughts. 1. This hotel sits on an enormous hill. If you are fearful of heights or have problems driving in hilly areas, don't ever visit Branson. 2. Hotel is extremely old, musty and dated. It was probably "hopping" in its day. About 30 years ago. It wasn't even worth taking pictures to show. 3. Upon entrance to a standard room, my family was met with multiple 8 legged critters and a cicada. 4. All of the rooms literally WREAK of mildewy/mustyness that makes it almost unbearable to breathe. If you have allergies, this is a warning. 5. The air conditioners aide in pushing the wreak around the room as you cannot control the fan and it blows constantly. 6. The quality of every fixture immediately shows how old the space is. Carpet peeling, air conditioner falling out of wall, cracks in the ceiling, twists for the sink handles popping off, chairs covered in dust and regret. 7. The beds are terrible. 8. The TV's had horrible reception. If you are traveling with kids, you know what kind of effect this could have. Positives: 1. The shower/tub in the first room of the "suite" we stayed in was spotless. 2. The breakfast was decent. Unless you prefer "nostalgia" over modern convenience and livable standards, do not stay here. There is a Hilton downtown which is probably the nicest property in the area.
