"No Reason To Stay Here- Just Avoid This Place"

I stayed at this hotel recently for a week to attend a convention at the Orange County Convention Center. I was part of a large group. Based on my experience, I would advise you to pick a different place to stay. Whoever owns and/or manages this hotel is doing a terrible job, and candidly I'm surprised Hilton would allow their brand flag on this property. The property consists of a typical room tower, and a series of "villas" in outbuildings that surround the tower. The "villas" were built in the 60's or 70's, and the rooms in these buildings are really really tired, poorly maintained, dirty, and really skanky (a word I'm sure I've never used in a review before). Those of us that were in a villa room feel as if the hotel has banished us to a lower-tier experience. And my friends tell me staying in a tower room is not much better. No doubt management has heard these comments before from other guests. In addition to my comment above, here is what I've observed or learned from some of my colleagues: 1) Women in my party do not feel safe here, and some in our party elected to move to a different hotel after a couple of nights in order to feel secure. One of my female coworkers arrived at the hotel at around 2:00AM after a long day of work. There was no-one at the front door (which did not require key for access), no-one at the front desk, the elevators do not require key cards and anyone can walk right onto a guest floor unimpeded. Compromising a guest's security is inexcusable. Note to hotel management-please do not respond to this review with a comment about how important security is to you; you are not providing it. 2) The "Market" coffee spot is understaffed so after a 15 minute wait at 6:30AM for a cup of coffee I had to leave without any java.. 3) Another colleague had to move rooms because there were roaches in his bathroom. 4) Yet another coworker complained of a sulphur smell in their shower water. 5) The exercise room doesn't have balls to do your abs on. 6) $30/day for self parking. 7) The grout in my shower has what appears to be mold and the shower valve needs maintenance. I'm not making this stuff up folks. I could go on, but you get the point. Based on my experience and the experience of my co-workers, the only conclusion I can arrive at is the management and ownership of this hotel only pretend to care about their guests experience. They obviously care much more about their bottom line. With so many hotels to choose from in Orlando, many of which are worthy of your business, there really is no reason to stay at the very tired DoubleTree By Hilton Orlando at Sea World.

We chose the DoubleTree by SeaWorld for our son’s birthday because of its family-friendly amenities. But at check-in, we learned that a private gay party was happening, and all amenities were closed to us except for one pool with no shallow end for kids. We weren’t told in advance, and it ruined our trip. I want a full refund for both nights.

We were there overnight for a speaking engagement. There was no signage to tell you that while their address is on I Drive, you can't enter from I Drive. Two entrances there & both are closed. So when we finally found the entrance on the side road, and got to our room, we found the beds were uncomfortably hard and the pillows were the worst I've ever slept on. Absolutely horrible!! Literally, could not sleep on either the bed nor the pillows. We were charged a $75 inclusive fee which meant using the mini putt putt golf, and a few other things we do not ever use...or need. That fee was a huge rip off! Then off course, add the $40 hotel fee + $30 a night parking while there is no security!! Can you say one big huge rip off for a horrible, horrendous hotel? We've stayed in Hilton Hampton Inns and loved them. We should have looked for one of those but this hotel was near the event we were attending. We were very sorry to stay here!! One night turned into a very long, uncomfortable night!

I’m honestly so upset and disappointed after staying at this hotel, especially because it markets itself as a “kid-friendly” destination. We had high hopes for a relaxing family vacation, but what we experienced was nothing short of a nightmare. Upon arrival, we were shocked to find out that there was an event being hosted right in the middle of the hotel — an adult-only party with loud music, inappropriate themes, and content that was completely unsuitable for children. There were scantily clad performers, inappropriate language, and behaviors that are absolutely not something you expect to see when the hotel is supposed to cater to families with young kids. As a parent, this is not something I would ever have imagined would be allowed in a place that's supposed to be safe and welcoming for families. My children were deeply uncomfortable, and it left us feeling trapped because the event was so loud, we couldn’t even enjoy the hotel amenities that we paid for as part of the “resort fee” because they were blocked off. For a hotel that claims to be kid-friendly and right across from Sea world, this was beyond unacceptable. The lack of consideration for families and children in an environment that's meant to be fun and safe for them was appalling. If we were informed at check in or before arriving we would have stayed somewhere else. I’d highly advise parents to think twice before booking here, as the experience did not match what was advertised. They had Std testing in the middle of the lobby as well as people walking around with sex toys and inappropriate outfits. This is something that should not be allowed in a family friend hotel.

So I brought my family to Orlando for a little vacation. The hotel is nice and the rooms are not bad. But on Thursday the hotel closed off half the property including the laundry area, family pool, kids play area, and game room for the Gay Days expo. Now I don't care about the Expo, if the hotel had put this on their website, I wouldn't brought my little kids here. The Double Tree basically put kids and families 2nd. We will not be back for this alone. I also will not use this hotel for my company convention due to their failure to disclose things on their website.
