2019 will be an exciting year at Disneyland! With new lands, events, and rides, visitors have an entire year of magic to look forward to.
Here’s what’s on tap for Disneyland 2019:
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Of course, the biggest addition to Disneyland in 2019 is Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The highly anticipated land is on schedule to open in Summer 2019 and will feature two rides, immersive environments, and your favorite characters from the movie.
Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run is the first of two new rides in Galaxy’s Edge. Get ready to navigate the galaxy behind the controls of the most iconic ship in space! Choose from one of three flight roles and prepare to conquer your assigned mission.
Next, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance places you right in the thick of a battle between the Resistance and the First Order. Both rides use the latest ride technology and the incredible level of imagination and magic we’ve come to love from Disney’s Imagineering team. And, paired with an all-new score from composer, John Williams, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped right into the Star Wars saga.
On top of rides, the hands-on land places guests right in the middle of the Star Wars story. As you stroll through Galaxy’s Edge, stop by the Cantina, shop at the street market in Black Spire Outpost, and keep an eye out for old friends along the way.
New Rides at Pixar Pier
The vibrant and thrilling boardwalk, Pixar Pier, opened to guests this past summer. The reimagined area brings your favorite Pixar movies and characters to life with new and remodeled rides. The Imagineering team transformed the California Screamin’ coaster into the Incredicoaster and remodeled the Ferris wheel to revolve around the Pixar universe.
With the success of the new area, two new rides are coming to Disneyland 2019!
First, the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind will take guests on, well, and emotional ride. But don’t worry! This spinning family-friendly attraction is great for visitors, young and old. While the ride revolves around emotions, the only thing you’ll feel at the end of the ride is elated! The ride does not have an official opening date.
Also new to Disneyland 2019 is Jessie’s Critter Carousel. You’ll recognize Jessie from the legendary Toy Story Pixar series. This carousel is perfect for all ages and includes all of Jessie’s animal pals, along with the famous Yodeling Cowgirl herself. This new attraction also does not have a definitive opening date in 2019.
Disneyland After Dark Events Return in 2019
The fan favorite Disneyland After Dark events are back next year! This exclusive after-hours event features special entertainment, exquisite cuisine, collectable merchandise, and other surprises.
These specially-ticketed events allow guests to enter Disneyland starting at 6:00 pm, a few hours before the true event beginning at 9:00 pm.
First up in 2019 is Sweethearts’ Nite on February 7, 2019. Bring your sweetheart to the Happiest Place on Earth for a magical, romantic night. While at the event, visitors will enjoy:

Next is 90s Nite on March 7, 2019. Whether you grew up in the 90s or you watched your kids soak in the magic of Disney’s 90s hits, this event is sure to give you a huge case of nostalgia! Take a trip back in time with 90s-themed experiences, such as:
- An exclusive fireworks show with throwback music and more.

- A commemorative fanny pack (all the rage in the 90s!)
- 90s-inspired food and beverages.
The best part about the Disneyland After Dark events is the short wait times for your favorite rides! Since this event requires an additional ticket, crowds are controlled which lead to more rides on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
New Marketplace: The Tropical Hideaway
Another Disneyland 2019 addition is the Tropical Hideaway marketplace. Set near the Jungle River waterfront, this new hideout is a fantastic spot for a bit of relaxation.
Pro tip: visit around sunset as the torch lights are lit and create a breathtaking atmosphere.
While here, you’ll discover cuisine from all over the world including the renowned Dole Whip! Also, keep an eye out for Rosita from the Enchanted Tiki Room. She’s packed her things and moved to a new spot, eager to greet guests to the Tropical Hideaway.
Get Your Ears On at Disneyland 2019
Can you believe Mickey and Minnie Mouse have been entertaining us for 90 years? To celebrate this dynamic duo’s success and the happiness they share with the world, Disneyland is introducing the Get Your Ears On Celebration.
As part of the celebration all year long, guests will enjoy themed entertainment, character meet and greets, food, and other surprises throughout the park. One such addition is the new Mickey’s Mix Magic fireworks show beginning January 18, 2019.
Mickey’s Mix Magic lights up Disneyland on select nights with the latest projection, fireworks, and lighting technology. The show features the celebration’s theme song “It’s a Good Time” along with all your favorite Disney tunes set to dance remixes!
Also, be on the lookout for the brand new Mickey’s Soundsational Parade starting January 25, 2019. The parade features Disney’s classic characters, along with some new faces! Since this parade is a fan-favorite, try to get to your spot a little earlier than normal to claim your seat.
To celebrate Mickey and Minnie’s relationship as America’s sweethearts, Disneyland has declared January 22nd through February 18th, 2019 to be Valentine’s Month at the park! After all, the couple clearly knows how to keep the romance alive after 90 years together.
Plus, add a little adventure to your romantic visit with Minnie’s Valentine Surprise. This park-wide scavenger hunt brings guests to secret valentines hidden for Mickey and friends. Redeem your completed treasure map for a commemorative surprise!
Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival Expands in 2019
Disney (and food) fans from all over the world flock to Anaheim each spring for the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival. This year, the festival is expanding to an eight-week run to accommodate the interest of more guests.
From March 1 to April 23, 2019, guests are invited to share in culinary experiences all throughout Disney California Adventure park. From seminars to specialty wine and craft beers, there’s something to satisfy everyone’s palate and curiosity. Plus, the event boasts themed entertainment and kid-friendly cooking experiences.
Do know specific seminars, experiences, and parts of the festival require advance reservations.
Seriously Quick Food Service
What’s worse than waiting in line for a Disneyland ride? Waiting in line for food! (Especially when you’re hungry.)
Disneyland recently introduced a new way to order, right from your smartphone. Guests visiting Disneyland in the coming year can take advantage of the new mobile food order technology and skip the lines.
All you need is an appetite, the Disneyland app, and a smartphone!
Looking to the Future: Disneyland’s Newest Hotel
Although not a Disneyland 2019 addition, Disneyland broke ground this past summer on a brand new hotel resort set to debut in 2021. Located near the west end of Disney Springs, the 700-room hotel will include exceptional dining and entertainment. The landscaping and decor of the hotel are rumored to focus on nature and also provides access to the Disneyland monorail, with a transportation platform inside the hotel.
Guests of the new hotel will enjoy sweeping views of the Downtown Disney District along with access to the four other hotels at Disneyland Resort.
