Disneyland 2020: What’s New at the Park?

2020 will be an exciting year at Disneyland! With new lands, events, and rides, visitors have an entire year of magic to look forward to.

Here’s what’s on tap for Disneyland 2020:

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Of course, the biggest addition to Disneyland in 2020 was Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Soon, on January 17, 2020, visitors can join the Resistance in a tumultuous battle against the First Order on the new Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride.

Dare to spar with the First Order? The mission, should you choose to accept it, is to gather recruits outside the Black Spire Outpost. You may have to escape from a legion of stormtroopers and Kylo Ren to do so, but don’t worry–you’ll have a covert team of fighters such as Rey and BB-8 on your side.

Disneyland After Dark Events Return in 2020

The fan favorite Disneyland After Dark events are back next year! This exclusive after-hours event features special entertainment, exquisite cuisine, collectable merchandise, and other surprises.

These specially-ticketed events allow guests to enter Disneyland starting at 6:00 pm, a few hours before the true event beginning at 9:00 pm. We recommend purchasing tickets early, as these events are incredibly popular.

First up is 80s Nite on January 29, 2020. Whether you grew up in the 90s or you watched your kids soak in the magic of Disney’s 80s hits, this event is sure to give you a huge case of nostalgia! Take a trip back in time with 80s-themed experiences, such as:

  • An exclusive fireworks show with throwback music and more.
  • A re-imagined Disney Afternoon Avenue where you’ll find interactive photo ops and iconic 80s characters from Disney movies and shows.
  • Commemorative themed items.
  • 80s-inspired food and beverages.

Next up in 2020 is Sweethearts’ Nite on February 12 or 13, 2020. Bring your sweetheart to the Happiest Place on Earth for a magical, romantic night. While at the event, visitors will enjoy:

  • Dances throughout the park, including a “Royal Ball” experience.
  • Meet with iconic Disney couples including Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Aladdin and Jasmine, Eugene and Rapunzel, and more.
  • Photo opportunities with backgrounds from romantic Disney films.
  • Romantic decor, food, merchandise, and more.

The best part about the Disneyland After Dark events is the short wait times for your favorite rides! Since this event requires an additional ticket, crowds are controlled, which leads to more rides on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival Returns in 2020

Disney (and food) fans from all over the world flock to Anaheim each spring for the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival. Better yet, last year, the festival expanded to an eight-week run to accommodate the interest of more guests.

From February 28 to April 21, 2020, guests are invited to share in culinary experiences all throughout Disney California Adventure park. From seminars to specialty wine and craft beers, there’s something to satisfy everyone’s palate and curiosity. Plus, the event boasts themed entertainment and kid-friendly cooking experiences.

Do know specific seminars, experiences, and parts of the festival require advance reservations.
