"Disappointing Trip-Niagara Falls Day Tour + Boat + Lunch"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5
Reviewed October 26, 2019 NEW
I booked the Niagara Tour/Boat/Lunch for October 9, 2019 and was told by our hotel concierge (King Edward Hotel) that we would travel in a 27 passenger bus. A SUV arrived (we had not booked a private tour-which also says 6 passengers max) and the 3 of us were placed in the 3rd row seats (7 passengers total). It was not until enroute when I asked when we were boarding the bus that I was told this was our transportation for the day. Seats in the back were miserable, we could not see much, my 80 year old sister was forced to climb into the back, we couldn't hear much of our foreign driver's minimal commentary, nor did we hear much of any history or learn about all the things listed in the brochure. While this private tour style excursion could have been great, 7 passengers in this vehicle, and we were forced to sit 4 hours in miserable rear seats (there was no mention by driver we should rotate seats, nor did any of the other passengers except one offer to climb in the back). No one should be forced to sit in the back (3 people unacceptable) and there should have been a max of 4 passengers in the car. Lunch was a mass feed tourist place, busloads come in, food ok, nice view. Loved the Niagara Falls boat trip, wine tasting nice as was our hour+ at Niagara on the Lake. We were told this was the best trip, and sorry, I have been on much better excursions. 3*** due to sites we visited.

"Niagara Falls Day Tour with VIP - Recommended"

Our party of 3 required space to enjoy the quite long journey to Niagara Falls and we found that some of the tour companies change the vehicles in their advertising when numbers are low, some are also not quick with their responses. However, through our hotel VIP was happy to accommodate us, even with a half full bus. We opted for the lunch and boat package and also included was a visit to Niagara on the Lake which is a fabulous small picturesque town in a lovely location and a visit to Lakeview Cellars wineary where learned about (and bought a bottle of) ice wine. We were picked up promptly and our driver/tour guide Peter, or PA Peter (ask him about his 15 minutes of fame) who was very informative during our journey and a delight throughout our trip making sure our boat trip and lunch was organised and that we had the best photo opportunities. Lunch at the Shereton in Niagara gave us the most spectacular view of the falls in window seats while we ate a buffet style lunch. Our lunch stop was early and I think this was definitely a bonus to get good seating, as by the time we left the restaurant was crowded. We were safely returned to our hotel on time. I could have stayed in Niagara just being mesmorised by nature's wonder and wandered around Niagara on the Lake for a little longer but it is a full day and we were happy with having done all that we did in one package. I would definitely recommend this tour company.

We enjoyed the ride up to the Falls on the Hornblower in our red pac-a-mac's. This is the best way to really get a feeling of scale and the power of the water. It was amazing how many birds fly so close to the water's surface which are not really visible from the cliff tops. A great way to cool off and see the spectacle.

" Private day trip to Niagara area"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed September 20, 2019
We thoroughly enjoyed our full day trip to the Niagara area which included a Hornblower Cruise at the Falls, lunch at Treadwells (highly recommend) in Niagara on the Lake and wine tasting at Trius Winery. Our guide, Roy, worked hard to ensure we saw everything the area had to offer. He was happy to stop for photos and and we didn’t feel rushed at any stage. All in all it was a lovely day out and can highly recommend this tour operator.

"Awesome Niagara Falls"

We really enjoyed our tour with VIP Ontario Tours. The boat trip under Niagara Falls was spectacular, and we loved walking around Niagara-On-The-Lake - it’s such a quaint little town! Our tour was made even better thanks to the tour guide Kevin- he was so friendly, helpful and was so obliging to take photos for us at every stop. He’s a great photographer! The bus driver Lisa was also super friendly! We were really impressed with how well the tour was organized, and also with the bus itself - it was big, comfortable, and had charging ports and a bottle of water on every seat. Halfway through the tour, we were offered a box of Canadian souvenirs and our kids could choose whatever they wanted. This was such a nice touch! Overall, we would highly recommend this tour! So much is packed into one day but everything went so smoothly that it was relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks for a great day out!
