Having driven 400 miles from Fort Worth to Wink on a Friday afternoon. We that the museum was closed, but on the door was list of names with phone numbers. As we didn't have cellphone and sat the car trying to use a tablet, when a car pulled up behind us. A lady got out and started to walk towards our car, it happened to be Barbara whose name I had seen in a previous review. Having lower the driver she asked if we wished to go into the museum. She told us that she was on her way home from work, and if a parked outside she always stopped to check. The museum is housed in one room with quite a large number of exhibits, the pièce de résistance is a pair of Roy's prescription sunglasses which she allowed my wife and I to try on. What a great honor. Barbara is an excellent curator.

My husband was very excited to visit this museum. Based on previous TA reviews, I knew this museum did not have regular hours, but will support your visit with an arranged time, or you can spontaneously call the names listed on the door if you are just passing through. I'm a planner, so we reached out far ahead of our arrival. True to her word, Barbara was there as scheduled to let us in. She gave us the most amazing 'tour' through the one-room museum filled with knickknacks and original Orbison belongings the museum has acquired. We were absolutely riveted by her stories and delightful nature. My husband got to try on a pair of prescription sun glasses once owned by Orbison. We were there for a full hour! If you are in the area, and love learning more about Roy Orbison through stories and visuals, you will be glad you stopped by.

What a pleasure this was, a one-room tribute to Orbison done with loving care. Plenty of press clippings, photos, including those of Orbison's brief time in Wink, and a good display of high school yearbooks from Orbison's days. Call when you get there, best to get either Debbie or Barbara off the numbers on the front door, and they'll show up to let you in.

Arrangements must be made in advance unless you chance calling one of the numbers posted on the door of this small hometown museum. We enjoyed our visit -- especially trying on Roy's famous glasses.

I was able to connect with Roy Orbison Museum volunteer guide Barbara on the phone a few days before the trip. We scheduled at time to visit during spring break. Upon arriving to the museum and calling her, she arrived promptly. She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about Roy and his musical historical facts. Her enthusiasm toward her volunteer docent position. She was excellent.
