A visit to Cajun Pride Swamp Tours brings you into the heart of Louisiana’s wetlands, where guided swamp boats glide through quiet bayous surrounded by moss-draped cypress trees. The tour offers a unique look at early Louisiana exploration and provides insight into the wildlife, culture, and natural environment that shaped life in the region. Knowledgeable guides share stories of the land and point out native species such as alligators, egrets, and turtles along the way.

After the swamp experience, the journey continues to your choice of Oak Alley Plantation or St. Joseph Plantation, both celebrated for their historical significance and authentic representation of plantation life. At Oak Alley Plantation, a National Historic Landmark, guests walk beneath the famed Allée of 28 live oak trees and explore exhibits highlighting the plantation’s era as a working sugarcane operation. Interpreters help bring the site’s layered history to life. Please note that photography is not permitted inside the mansion.

Guests choosing St. Joseph Plantation will find one of the few fully intact sugar plantations remaining in the River Parishes. The Manor Home and numerous original outbuildings—including slave cabins, a detached kitchen, blacksmith shop, schoolhouse, and chicken coop—offer a broad and unfiltered timeline of the property’s history. The plantation grounds are also recognizable from major films and series such as The Skeleton Key, 12 Years a Slave, Mudbound, Underground, Roots, and Queen Sugar.

We got picked up from Big Joe, he is an excellent tour guide and i loved the tunes on the bus, i just cant remember the Spotify playlist 😆 We arrived for our swap tour and it was great! We got up close with the gators and other wildlife and got to feed the gators. We even got to hold Baby Bruce 🖤 Our captin was very knowledgeable and i loved the haunted extras too

Where does the Oak Alley Plantation and Swamp Boat Tour depart from?

This tour includes hotel pick-up and drop-off from most New Orleans, Metairie and Kenner hotels. Please call the number on your e-ticket to confirm hotel pick-up locations and times.

How far away is the swamp and plantation?

The swamp is 27 miles from Downtown New Orleans/French Quarter and only 15 minutes from the New Orleans Airport. The Plantation is 20-30 minutes further past the swamp or about 1 hour from Downtown New Orleans/French Quarter.

Can we eat and drink while on the tour?

Eating and drinking are allowed on the boat (in limited quantities) and at picnic tables throughout Cajun Pride Swamp Tour, but please note that eating and drinking are not permitted in the shuttle vans. Picnic tables are available for use on the grounds adjacent to the parking lot of the Oak Alley Plantation, but please note that picnics are not allowed on the historic grounds.

Are food and drinks available at the Cajun Pride Swamp Tour location?

Limited snack options are available in the gift shop at all times.

Can I take pictures while on tour?

Yes, but please note that photography is not allowed inside the "Big House: exhibit at the Oak Alley Plantation.

What should I wear?

It is best to wear casual attire and comfortable walking shoes.

How much walking is involved?

The plantation tour involves some walking, but not a great distance, while the swamp tour is entirely by boat. You'll only walk a short distance from your vehicle to the boat.

What if it rains?

The plantation and swamp tours are offered come rain or shine unless canceled due to extreme weather conditions. The boats used in the swamp tour are covered for protection from rain, and the plantation tours are mostly indoors, but please bring your umbrella for the walk from your vehicle to the plantation and the swamp.

Is the tour wheelchair-accessible?

The plantation grounds are wheelchair-accessible, but please note that there are stairs to get to the second floor of the Big House exhibit. An iPad tour is offered in the media room, but please indicate while booking your ticket(s) if you or anyone in your group will need this assistance. One of the boats in the swamp is wheelchair-accessible, but please indicate while booking your ticket(s) if you or anyone in your group will use a wheelchair, as the boat space is limited.
