Millennium Downtown New York in New York, NY

I have complained SEVERAL times over the last 4 years staying at the Millennium NYC Downtown hotel located at 55 Church St. for charging a $2.50 "charity donation" AFTER you check out. After our bookkeeper caught it, we have to keep reminding them NOT to charge it when we check it. They confirm it is removed, and them on checkout, we get a printed receipt and it is NOT there. Only to find they charge our card AFTER we check out! We urge everyone who sees this on their M Social charges on their Credit card to report to the following entities. We are also investigating a class action against the Hotel. Beautiful hotel, beautiful view and friendly staff. There is much more to this hotel than just the pretty views. We visited the 9/11 museum only to realise that this hotel was there when 9/11 happened, literally just across the road. The history of it is crazy. We were on the 34th floor and got an amazing views. Room was clean, amenities were pretty good. Location is great. There are two subway stations 2 minute walk. Lots of shops, coffee shops and restaurants around the hotel. Only thing I can complain about really is the elevators. You will wait a while to use one and there was an unexpected charge of $242 taken off from my deposit which i assume is tourist tax - but my complaint is that I wasn’t made aware of this or wasn’t told how much it would be. No mention of it at all.

This hotel was the best experience ive ever had in new york !! Extraordinary!! During check in i Met William he was the best and gave me the best customer service and very kind !! He made sure my stay was the best and i will be back very soon !!! 20 stars

The location in FiDi is excellent. Our Corner King Junior Suite (high hloor) was spacious and offered wonderful views. Had we booked the room without breakfast, our stay might have been perfectly fine. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by unexpected after-stay charges and the hotel’s unwillingness to resolve the issue. It’s disappointing, especially since we were returning to NYC and had considered staying at M Social again, but after this, definitely not. It’s not about the money, but about management, principle, and how guests are treated. - Staff experience was poor. Although we were the only guests at reception, check-in felt rushed, just taking a deposit and handing over the keys. Check-out was similar, with guests simply dropping keys into a basket. Any additional question, even something simple like asking where breakfast was served, made us feel as if we were inconveniencing them. - The “breakfast included” option should be reconsidered. In reality, it’s just a credit for the lobby restaurant with a limited selection, served in paper and plastic containers. Worst of all, after departure our card was charged for the restaurant bills that should have been covered under the breakfast-included booking. This completely ruined what could have been a pleasant stay. - The TV setup was also disappointing. Although it’s a modern flat smart TV, the restrictive hotel mode makes it practically useless - no streaming apps, no Chromecast or phone mirroring, no channel guide, just a basic channel list with very slow channel switching.

This was my fourth time in New York, my first time in this hotel. The location was great, our room was spacious, well-equipped, and clean. Our view was of the 9/11 Memorial Park, One World Tower, World Trade Center, and the Hudson River. It was fantastic. Check-in and check-out were quick. The staff was very nice and helpful. I would like to highlight the front desk staff. They were very nice and always asked if our day was going well. It really added to our stay that we felt safe. We almost went "home"!
