I stayed at the Millennium regularly in the late 1990s and always considered it a high-standard hotel, managed professionally and conveniently located. The location remains excellent, but unfortunately, the rest has become questionable. Currently, the hotel presents a mixed picture. On one hand, there are rooms that are clearly dilapidated and overdue for renovation; on the other, there are rooms that have been newly renovated to a modern, luxury standard. Before my stay, I booked a "Superior Room, 1 King Bed, City View," advertised online as a luxury standard room. At no point did the website indicate that there were two tiers of quality within the same room category—one outdated and one renovated. Upon arriving at the front desk, I was immediately asked if I wanted to pay extra for an upgrade to a renovated room. This came as a surprise since I had already booked what was described as a luxury room. I declined, assuming my reserved room would meet the advertised standard. However, once I entered the room, I found it severely run-down and, to make matters worse, there was a loud mechanical screeching noise every 2–5 minutes, making it impossible to sleep. When I returned to the front desk to express my concerns, I was told that it should have been “obvious” that each category had both older and updated rooms. After a 12-hour journey, I had no interest in arguing, so I reluctantly agreed to pay for the so-called upgrade I had originally declined. In short, I feel misled. I did not expect Hilton—through the Millennium—to engage in what I believe to be false advertising, charging guests for what is described as a high-standard room and then offering an “upgrade” as a remedy for the hotel’s own shortcomings. Over the past 20 years, the Millennium has changed, and regrettably, not for the better. The issue is not merely about the physical state of the rooms, but about honesty and fair treatment of customers.

"Not worth the price"

Experience was horrible. I was given a room that was standard when I paid for a high floor suite with a specific view. 24 hours later they chose to ‘upgrade’ me to the room I paid for- where they momentarily lost our bags, the tv/ fridge was busted, and the thermostat showed I set 65* but was 78* and blew Smokey air at us which triggered my allergies. Staff Not willing to compensate or assist, hung up on me any time I tried to contact for assistance despite my booking with them direct.. took my calling the front desk 7 times, going to the desk three times, and running into a ‘manager’ in the elevator before a single call was returned to ‘address our concerns’. The view was good, but not the best location for bars/ non fast food. Website showed cocktails/restaurant, but of course that was closed too.

"Incredible!!!"

Forget the negative reviews, this hotel is fantastic! From the staff to the location, from the rooms to the grab and go breakfast. Oh, and the views are incredible! We had a view of the 9/11 memorial and the One World Trade, we actually slept with the curtains open because falling asleep looking at the views and waking up to them is just breathtaking. I came with my 16 year old son and he was so sad to leave! The lobby is beautiful and we had a warm welcome from the reception staff as we arrived. The beds are so comfy after a long day exploring and are cleaned and replenished each day. I have to mention the domestic staff are really lovely and friendly too. The location is brilliant as you can access many parts of the city from the subway just outside and around the corner at the Fulton Street Subway Centre. We had a grab and go breakfast, there's plenty to choose from and a great way to start your busy day. The guys behind the bar were really helpful. The hotel do ask for a deposit when you arrive, I forgot about this so remember your credit card! The concierge staff when leaving the hotel couldn't do enough for you, offering taxi's and there to give advice if you needed help planning your day. We asked one guy in particular about the flag on the wall in the hotel, he went on to tell us the story behind it and his story was very personal. What a lovely guy and God Bless You. If we were to ever visit New York again, I would 100% be booking this hotel! Thank you so much!
