Hampton Inn Brooklyn Downtown in Brooklyn, NY

Stayed here for 5 nights. We were in town for a very ill loved one who was in a local hospital. We are native New Yorkers, who moved out 30 years ago. Location was good for hospital and local family members living nearby. We Ubered everywhere. Kat, at the front desk was instrumental in giving us a nice room and giving us some great travel advice for restaurants and excursions. Kat was a consummate professional and very personable! Thank you Kat! Later on - on the stay, Mallory, also at the front desk, was also incredibly helpful in mapping out some of our daily excursions. Thank you Mallory! Room had a king-size bed. It was a bit too soft for our liking. Shower had good hot water but the water handle kept on popping off. Soap and shampoo dispensers are in the shower. Towels were good. Our View was absolutely incredible! But at times the street noise from the outside could be deafening. The noise was primarily from fire engines and police car sirens. This was happening at all hours of the night. Both the NYPD & FDNY had stations nearby. Also, everybody has to blow their horn on the strret. Oh well, that's NYC for you, not really the hotel's fault. We were on the 12th floor. I'm sure that if we had a lower floor room it would be much noisier. They had a really nice weight/exercise room. Breakfast was just okay. Standard Hampton inn fare. Scrambled eggs and pre-made omelets, and if course a waffle maker. Coffee was okay, OJ was very good. They claimed the bagels came from a good local place. They weren't that great to me, sorry. Many of the people we encountered during breakfast seem to have come in from the outside. Members of NYPD, NYCHA, and other outfits, including some homeless looking people were all getting their breakfast on. We did opt to get breakfast at a real diner on two occasions. We liked the security of having to use your room key, in the elevator, to get to your floor. From this hotel, we did manage to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to Chinatown. Then returned walking over the Manhattan Bridge back to the hotel. It was great. All and all the stay was good. We accomplished our mission. We got home safe and sound over the busiest travel time of the year. We would have never planned on traveling during this time. You're at the mercy of New York City. It's the reason why we moved out. The folks at the front desk were so helpful, jovial and welcoming, including clerk Kat and Craig, who handles bags. The room was large (king bed), and the location is close to the bridge. There's a full grocery store and train stop just a few walking blocks away. Great stay!

Best choice of our trip! The hotel is perfectly located with easy access to the subway and Manhattan on foot. The hotel staff is WONDERFUL, excellent service, welcoming, kind, and always willing to help, especially Ki, who was so sweet and made our stay perfect upon arrival. The breakfast is incredible, with a variety of options and variety on the days we stayed. There's plenty of coffee and hot water. Comfortable bed and 5-star hotel bath towels.
