"Best thing we did in Maui!"

Riding a horse along the ocean was always on my bucket list. I am glad I chose the Mandes Ranch. The employees at the ranch were very friendly and helpful. The views that we saw on our ride were the best that we saw on our trip.

My husband and I booked the morning session- some reviews gripe about the time it takes to saddle up. I have no issue with this as they select what horse is appropriate for each rider. If you are a person who wants a squeaky clean experience and no surprises - this may not be for you. Remember- these are animals and this is a true ranch. You will get sweaty, and your shoes may get dirty. I am very nervous around horses but the guides assured me I would be fine. Once on the trail the horses essentially knew the drill. The rub came when a downpour came, making the trails very slick for the horses. This is what I mean by surprises. My horse did go down to it knees while trying to get up the hill on slippery clay. The horse didn’t fall on me and I’ve lived to tell about it. We really enjoyed the gorgeous views and the ride. The horses were tame enough that two young girls with their family were able to ride and also made it out of the rainstorm without issue. I recommend this adventure for anyone looking for a relaxed morning.

Absolutely stellar activity! One of the few activities on Maui that is clearly run by professionals! I had never been on a horse before- and felt totally safe, prepared, and enjoyed every minute of it. The guide, Butch, led us through the trail and was perfect at matching our abilities to our horses. The horses are so well trained and docile. Apparently, this is the only tour on Maui that lets you run the horses, it was so fun and not once was I nervous due to the guides explicit instructions and watchful eye. He took so many photos of us on our own phones. Do yourself a favor and visit this establishment. I’ve lived here 15 years and this is, by far, one of the most amazing things I’ve done on the island.

We all enjoyed our Morning Aloha ride. Bring sunscreen as you are in the sun most of the time. The guides are great and help any riders that need it. They line you up and choose horses according to your ability and size. The ranch provides saddlebags and drinks to bring on the ride and there are 2 places you can run your horse. Very fun morning with beautiful views.
