from Lower Manhattan and Ground Zero Guided Walking Tour
New York City, a teenager compared to London or Paris, is still one of the most inspiring cities in the world. On this 2 to 2.5-hour private guided walking tour of Lower Manhattan, you’ll discover its Dutch and colonial origins through architecture and public spaces that even most New Yorkers don’t know exist. Join up a trip back in time that will reveal how The Big Apple has evolved through good times and bad.

During this tour, your enthusiastic guide will reveal historical sites including Bowling Green and Castle Clinton in Battery Park. They will introduce you to statesmen including George Washington and Alexander Hamilton at both Federal Hall and Trinity Church before fast-forwarding to the last century when the Charging Bull became the symbol for Wall Street and the NYSE. Discuss the clash of classic and modern architecture that creates New York’s distinct skyline before moving to modern times. You’ll learn the tragic tales lived by New Yorkers on 9/11 while visiting the official memorial as well as the firefighters’ memorial. The city has moved forward though, and the soaring Freedom Tower is the best example. Recently the Occupy Wall Street movement took over Zuccotti Park, demonstrating how the district is still a vital part of the city. After wandering the oldest part of New York City, you’ll understand why it rivals most any other metropolis worldwide.

Highlights generally include (but are not limited to):

• Battery Park
• The Bull
• Wall Street
• 9/11 Memorial

"Great tour of “the bigs” of American Museum of Natural History"

Robin Garr took us on a fabulous tour of the American Museum of Natural History in NYC. About 100 minutes hitting “the bigs” in the museum. Robin shared so much interesting information and we never could have seen so much in so little time without her. Outstanding!!

Our guide Mark was great. Showed us the Met through a different perspective, not only historical, but also “artist’s eyes”. A dream come true experience!

"Great visit to Statue of Liberty and Ellis island"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

We had been to New York a number of times but had never been to the Statue of Liberty. We had done tours with Babylon in other cities and figured we would give it a try. It was a great experience. A small group (5 people) and a very knowledgeable leader Katherine. We learned a lot of things we had not known before and had a very enjoyable time. This is a tour that is very much worth the time.

Mark was amazing—a brilliant ray of sunshine on a rain-soaked day. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and personable and made countless connections between what we were seeing and places in the city for us to look out for afterwards. His love the city is so obvious. Would love to go on more tours with him!

"Great private tour of the MET"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed October 26, 2019
We called Robin in the morning for our pre arranged private tour. We met in the lobby of the MET and Robin was a wonderful guide who was very knowledgable of art history. She was able to squeeze in as much as possible in the time we had together and we were grateful her ability to keep us on the move. There were three of us on this private tour and I would definitely recommend a private tour if you only have a half day.
