Description

from Hoover Dam “VIP” Tour
Located in Black Canyon on the Colorado River, the Hoover Dam is the highest structure of its kind in the world. It is an outstanding achievement, noteworthy not only for its enormous dimensions, complex design and intricate construction, but also for it's illustration of man's outstanding ability to overcome the desert's summer sun, the vagaries of a treacherous river, and the extreme hazards of great heights on the chasm's sheer walls.

This tour includes the Visitor Center and Historical Displays, views from the “interior” base of the dam into the Generator Room, the fascinating Hoover Dam Movie, with ample time for breathtaking views from the Top of the Dam, Lake Mead, the world's largest man-made lake, the eastern edge of the chasm in Arizona where you have fabulous views of the dam including Lake Mead. In addition, there are wonderful photo ops of the new Hoover Dam Bridge. Before returning to Las Vegas we stop at a local park where herds of Big Horn Sheep often come down from the surrounding mountains to gather and graze on the sweet grass.

Tour Includes: Unlimited Bottled Water & Snacks.

"Hoover Dam and GRAND CANYON SOUTH RIM VIP TOUR"

Thanks to our driver Marcus, this was a fantastic tour. The day starts early and ends late but gets chunked up between attractions and stopping for breaks. Marcus narrated throughout the drive with interesting facts/background and knows all the best times/places to stop. The Hoover Dam is awesome but the Grand Canyon is indescribable.

Words can't describe the outstanding qualities, our tour guide Konoa displayed the entire day, on our Hoover Dam / West Rim Grand Canyon Tour. From the moment we met, we immediately became kindred spirits. Smooth limousine style driving, attentiveness, and manners . . . I thought that type of service faded away years ago. Not with this gentleman. Konoa was exceptional in all aspects of what he did during our tour, and without a doubt, made our memories of this day priceless. You guys better not let this gem slip away ! 5 stars, ( 10 stars to be honest ).

What an awesome day it was! We are in town for my husbands 60th birthday. Our best friends joined us and we decided on APT’s 5 in 1 tour that took us to the Grand Canyon (Guano Point and Eagle Point), Joshua Forest and the Hoover Dam. It was a full day tour and worth every penny. We learned a LOT! Konoa was an amazing guide! We enjoyed his wit and he was a wealth of knowledge! He made us all comfortable and if you don’t book a tour with him, you are definitely missing out!! THANK YOU for helping make our trip so memorable!!

What a wonderful day we had on this trip. Our tour guide Bob was so interesting and very knowledgeable about the history, geology, etc. He also had a great sense of humor and kept us laughing. We would highly recommend this trip. We didn't have any children with us, but I can see Bob making this trip very enjoyable for kids as well.

"Grand Canyon South Rim VIP Tour"

Great day trip to the Grand Canyon South Rim from Vegas with Adventure Photo Tours. Wanted to visit the South Rim and chose to go on this trip after reading all the good reviews. They were not wrong. The trip could not have been better. The tour bus arrived promptly at 5.30 am and the lady ( I think her name was Lynn ) provided us with the breakfast bag and juice. There was to be a party of 13 on this day - December the 30th. Everyone was on time so we got a good start. She informed us that she was just taking us to the Hover Dam where we would meet Bob who would be our guide for the Canyon. Our route took us via Bolder City which was interesting to see, then drove over and stopped at the Hover Dam for a photo shoot. She told us interesting facts along the way. As Bob was stuck in traffic we had a extra little trip to see Lake Mead. The rising sun on the mountains made for a spectacular backdrop. Had a rest stop at the Hoover Dam Lodge ( a charming little place with photos of the dam being constructed ) where there was a chance for coffee/restrooms and to meet Bob. We set off for the next part of the journey to Kingman Arizona for our Route 66 stop which was at the Power House Route 66 Museum and Visitor Center. The two gift shops there provided an opportunity to pick up some Route 66 Souvenirs. Then it was a short journey to the next restroom stop just outside of Williams and then on to the canyon. Our guide Bob is quite a character and a great guy. Along with the stunning scenery, he made the long journey to the canyon a breeze. His passion for his job and the places and the geology of the area are evident in his commentary, which is interspersed with witty banter and jokes. He also takes a keen interest in his passengers, asking about where they are from etc. There was a family from Australia and a family from Mexico and two young ladies from Japan, along with ourselves from England. He says he thinks he talks too much, but he has a nice voice which is easy to listen to and you never tire of. He is always offering to take photos as well. On arrival at the canyon it was busy and there was a bit of a queue to enter the park. It was no problem, as to ensure we had a full 3 hours at the canyon, Bob would not give a departure time until we had actually arrived ! Once parked at Mather Point, there were options to walk the trail in various lengths or stay with Bob for the ride between the viewpoints. There had been snow at the canyon and the paths were quite icy and slippy, so chose to stick with Bob. The National Park Visitor Center is also here. You had the option of taking your packed lunch at any time and there was as much water as you wanted. All the viewpoints were amazing. The third - Angel Point provided different places to go inside and thaw numb photo taking hands ! Because of the shorter winter days we had the chance to see the sunset just before our time to depart. On the way back there was the inevitable time when everyone falls asleep, including me I'm afraid to say - I'd been awake since the early hours not wanting to miss the morning alarm ! One person who had to keep awake however, was Bob. Greatest respect and admiration for all tour drivers who have just as long a day as us, but have to keep alert to drive us safely back. I don't know how they do it. On the return to Vegas, Bob was pointing out good places to eat whilst dropping people off at there respective hotels. Took his advise about the buffet in the casino across from where we were staying and went on New Years Day. It was great - Bob came up trumps again ! If you are in Vegas and planning a visit to the canyon, book with Adventure Photo Tours. The West rim has the Skywalk and helicopter flights, but the South Rim is the most spectacular. A Happy New Year ( and New Decade ! ) to Bob and all the team at Adventure Photo Tours and a very big Thank You for a day to remember.. Ken. PS New to Tripadvisor and tried to add some photos - did not realize they take time to appear and may have posted a few of the same picture thinking it had not worked. Will try to amend and change them. If I am unable to do this I may have to delete and re-submit this review. Thanks again ! Read less Date of experience: December 2019
