"Sterile, expensive hotel in need of some TLC"

I stayed at the Hilton Times Square for a work conference in July. I'm a diamond member so I picked it for the extra points and (small) perks you get. My room was large, especially for NYC midtown standards. It had a nice view. It had a good desk area for working. The weak point was the very small and very outdated bathroom. It was tiny and very much in need of an upgrade. The hotel lobby was nice. The location is obviously central but it is on a very unappealing stretch of 42nd Street. All in all if you want Hilton points it's fine. And since it was for work, I wasn't personally paying for it and so it was all ok. I would not recommend it, however, if you are traveling to NYC for fun. It's a very sterile hotel in need of some renovations before I'd recommend staying here.

"Bad attitude and discrimination"

The Aladin room was really top but unfortunately the service is still pitiful here. Third time I am staying at this hotel and nothing improves. It is even worst and worst. This time we had even some racist comments. The clowns downstairs who pretend to run the baggage room and control you before the lift are very abusive and with no education. The reception is not better with bad manners and attitude. The only person nice we found during our stay was the girl who do the cleaning of the room. Cherry on the cake, the guy who reply at the room service was discriminating the Europeans clients. A total nonsense for an international hotel!

"Basic rooms off bustling, crowded 42nd street"

Off the hectic and busy section of 42nd street, this is a standard Hilton Hotel for the signt-seeing crowd. I stayed here 7 years ago and the place isn’t “new” as I remember it - it looks like the rooms have not been upgraded since then and a bit worn. The bathrooms could use an upgrade too. The first King corner room they gave me smelled of mildew and thankfully they put me in a new room that didn’t smell but it def is a sign that there might be some plumbing issues on certain units which doesn’t give me much confidence to return again… The views are great but I noticed between checking in 2 different rooms, one side of building had clean windows and the other side needed cleaning badly. I hope since I’ve stayed there in late June, the windows got cleaned. The cafe offers some favorite snacks and foods but the prices are almost double. Had they kept some of the costs maybe $1-2 higher then what I can pick up at the drug store ie: Tony’s chocolate bar, I would have bought a lot more snacks from here. I really recommend they lower the pricing. I did do some work in the restaurant area and one of the servers was super nice and friendly and he was the friendliest staff member in the entire property - I wish I caught his name. As I’m originally a New Yorker, I have one note - and that is the reception staff should be more approachable and friendly. I noticed many of the guests were there to see NY for the first time and for many it’s a big splurge to bring their family, I didn’t take the front desk staff to be helpful in giving tips or provide guidance of the area to these guests …. And since I love my city - a guest relations person that specializes in this would be nice just bc I feel like the guests are there specifically for the tourism. As I’ve stated in many of the time square hotels, I will say for the traditional brands like Hilton, the rooms here are pretty much the same as the others in time square. But for double the price - an independent luxury brand hotel will give you more stylish, modern and new rooms with more amenities. So I guess I say this to manage expectations.

"Unnaceptable "

The hotel was situated in a great location and room was good, but when it came to checking out, being unable to use the lifts, as they were busy, was unacceptable. Concierge told us there was nothing they could do, so after 20 minutes of standing around, we had to walk, with our heavy suitcases, down the fire escape. Not what you'd expect from a Hilton.
