Great Wolf Lodge Gurnee

This is a great value. Everything is in one place, lots of reasonably priced activities for kids. My daughter and I keep it pretty simple, water park, rope obstacle, arcade and pizza. Some negative reviews here are just people complaining about spending too much at the bar. Keep it simple and you'll have a great time.

I will never go there again. I went for a couple of hours to see my grandson for his birthday and was charged $19 to park. As if they don't make enough freaking money now you can't even visit someone staying there. I will be finding another indoor water park. Maybe we will go to timber ridge instead.

I am highly upset because I was lied to by the front desk attendant on the evening of 10/17 about extra charges on my back account. I was told that on reservation 42930315 that the secondary charge of $132.18 was for incidentals even though there was already a holding charge for $100 on that card. The secondary charge on my 42931620 reservation was for $180.44. She said that all four charges would both drop off after I checked out. With the charges pending over the weekend; I figured that midnight Monday night going into Tuesday they would drop. I checked my account today, TUE 10/21 at 9 am and both charges for over $130+ are still pending, messing up my account. I did expect the $100 hold for incidentals but not the extra over $130+ that never should have been charged. I also had a charge for $48.60 for towels. I ensured each time we received and returned the towels to watch the employee hit the buttons on the screen. I wanted to make sure I wasn't charge for towels; but somehow they still charged me for towels even thought I saw the person document that the towels were returned each time. Keep in mind, I had to scan my wristband each time to get them and each time to turn them in. It appears that this lodge located in Gurnee has a racket going for doing extra charges in the hopes that no one would notice and let them slide by. I called the customer service line, waited 10 minutes to speak with someone. She did her best to assist me by creating a 'ticket' to refund me back $361.22 that never should have been taken. On top of that I was informed that it would take 7-10 business days to get my money back.

Watch out for the rides… you get hurt, Great Wolf Lodge ignores you!!!I I took my granddaughter for her birthday and on my first ride, the Tornado, shot us out of the funnel backwards and hit the back of my head directly into a concrete wall. I told a life guard at the time and as not to make a big ordeal on my granddaughter’s birthday, continued to go on rides. However, as the day progressed, I got a terrible headache and have had one every day since August 26 and I rarely get headaches I also reported it to the Heath and safety manager who took notes with a promise someone would get back to me in 24-48 hours. I did not get a call and I called back 5 days later to an AI agent that viciously recycled my call to reservations. I finally lied and said I wanted to rent a cabana to get a person on the phone. That worked. Finally was given a name and number to call with extension to call, but when I called, I was directed to the same number with NO option to punch in an extension. I have emailed a dozen times, called at least a half dozen to get a response that someone will contact me in 24 -48 hours, then no response. I emailed and called again to get an email that it would be 72 hours. Then no response. Emailed and called again and was told they escalated my case with no time frame. It has been almost a month and just emailed again and the number they provided sent me to a voicemail that I finally figured out how to contact, stated that is full and not accepting calls. At the time of my accident, I should have made a big scene, threaten to sue but that is not the person I am. However, I am not one to be ignored. I have medical bills for this and just want to be compensated in some way to cover those bills and perhaps reimburse me for our one night stay. I don’t think that is asking too much. They really should have a safety and customer service section because they would get ZERO stars. Our experience at the hotel was pretty good, it was after that left me with a bad taste. We checked out on a Friday and that Sunday I noticed small, red, itchy bumps. They looked very much like what could be bed bug bites. My daughter also developed these bites in a similar pattern. I filled out the form they have on line for reporting issues. I got a call several days later asking for more information on the situation. Before hanging up they said someone would be in touch soon. A few more days go by and no one had reached out. So I called - first of all, the auto-attendant is terrible and getting to the actual hotel is difficult and time consuming. Once I finally got through I was transferred to the safety manager/assistant pool director and received her voicemail, every single time I called. To this day I have not heard back from her. I tried another time to get in touch with a different manager, was placed on hold and the call was disconnected. I wasn't accusing the hotel of having bed bugs, I just wanted to have them check so I would know if I needed to do anything with our luggage so I didn't bring bed bugs home. We were hoping to make this an annual tradition for our family. While the stay itself was fun and memorable, I don't know if we will be returning due to the terrible/lack there of customer service.
