"Hip Hotel in Fantastic Location! Modern Rooms and Friendly Staff."
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed August 29, 2020 NEW
I absolutely loved my two stays at Hotel Versey. The location could not be better considering downtown is close and the airport is a quick Uber or bus/subway ride away. The hotel is iconic in Boystown and offers all of the amenities you need to recharge, recoup, and get ready for your day. The wireless internet is fast and free. The rooms are perfectly plush with outlets to charge your electronics near your bed. I was absolutely pleased with the abundance of television stations as well, especially during the time when I just want to relax. The rooms are trendy with special touches. I can't explain it in words. It is very cool here. A huge plus is gym access next door at LA Fitness. It beats a small hotel gym. It was an absolutely amazing perk! The staff are really courteous and help you choose a room to your liking. Overall, I can't wait for my next stay when I am in Chicago. I work in Chicago about 10 times a year and Hotel Versey definitely got me hooked!

"Great Location for Boystown + Lincoln Park"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5
Reviewed June 29, 2020
The best parts of this hotel were the location and the decor/ feel of the place. It seemed to be a renovated old apartment building. Loved the decorated wallpaper behind the bed and the natural light in the bathroom. Room was comfortable and very clean. Room and lobby had a hip/hostel/ international feel to it. As a gay guy, this was a great location - very close to Boystown area with gay bars. within walking distance of many restaurants, Target, Divvy bike rental stations, Trader Joes right across the street. The lake and park are a 15 min walk away, with great views of downtown cons - · parking is not included! Extra $30 in garage behind hotel. Misleading because if you search for hotels with parking included, on some websites this hotel is included (trip advisor correctly lists this hotel without parking as an included amenity). no microwave or refrigerator in the room, view from window was facing other hotel windows, room I was in was near the staircase and doorway, could hear other guests coming and going. a bit underwhelmed for the price of room.

"Awful hotel! The rooms are in very bad condition. "

My experience at the hotel was very bad. The only one positive thing about it I can mention is its location. If you want to stay close to Boystown around cool hip areas like Lake View East & Lincoln Park, then this hotel is a great option for you. Also a hotel plus is its lobby which is really stylish and interesting looking. As soon as you get to the lobby you’re WOWed, however, as soon as get to your room you understand that the reality is not that good. Oh, before sharing my opinion about the rooms I would like to mention a very small elevator. It can barely fit 2 people, and it is not able to fit a few big peaces of luggage. Also the elevator is super slow. Anyway, about my room, I booked my room through the Hotel Tonight app. Obviously they would give me the worst room they have. I got room #326. OMG! That room was TRASH! First of all, it’s size was super small, the spacing was so limited, I felt really uncomfortable with my luggage and felt like I needed more space. The next issue was the room was absolutely dark because all the light was blocked by the next building which was like 10 feet away from the hotel building. I turned on all the room lights, and they were not enough to completely bright up all the room. Also the room in general looked very trashy and outdated. Of course, I could not stay there and came back to the front desk and asked to change it. The front desk guy was not happy about my complaining and while being kind of angry he switched me to a different room. My next room was #344. Luckily it was much bigger, also it looked okay, but still was outdated. It was clean in the room, but it did not really feel spotless. Thank God, I had daylight because the window faced an open inside area between the buildings. However, I still had the same light issue in the room. I felt like the light in the room was not enough. My Queen Bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The bathroom was very tiny. The only one plus there was a bathtub which almost fit me (I am 6’ tall). The bathroom amenities were super cheap and smelled bad. I tried to connect to Wi-Fi twice, but it did not work out. So I used my own regular network. I paid for my room approx $75 per night, and I feel like this rate is too much for the quality. This hotel was in the category of a cheap road motel. So when you watch its photos in the Internet, please, do not trust them. You will not get the same good looking atmosphere like on filtered Internet pictures. Or maybe book the most expensive room that the hotel has to offer. Hopefully, they are actually nice.

"Great location and price"

I stayed here on a Sunday and the price couldn't be beat (much cheaper than a weekend). The hotel has a modern design and is very clean and comfortable. Tons of great restaurants and shopping within walking distance and bus lines at your door, and the CTA Brown Line is just a 5 minute walk. Staff were very professional and friendly. Will definitely stay here again!
