Travel along historic railroad tracks through magnificent redwoods on a Skunk Train Rail Bike. This guided trip begins with a scenic hike down to the Noyo River where your bikes await. Then becomes a 25-mile railbike journey following the river, crossing 12 wooden trestle bridges and stopping for a picnic with ample time to explore before heading back.

When should we arrive?Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. There are no refunds for late arrivals. Railroad pedal car tours operate rain or shine.
How long is this Skunk Train Rail Bikes trip?The Noyo River Redwoods Scenic Railbike Excursion is approximately 4 to 4 1/2 hours and covers a distance of 25 miles. Total traveling time is about 90 minutes in each direction, with a stop for a picnic lunch and free time to explore.
Is parking provided?Free parking is provided near the Sherwood House location.
Are there any age/physical/health/etc. restrictions for this activity?This trip is lengthy and strenuous. You must be in good physical shape and able to walk a long distance (getting down to your bike and back up at the end, it’s 15 stories of hiking). Single riders must be at least 18 years of age. All passengers must be able to walk steep and rugged terrain and be at least 6+ years old. Maximum weight 250 pounds per passenger. Riders should be capable of bicycling recumbently for 30 minutes at low exertion. The rail bikes include an optional motorized assist to help anyone on any grade or simply to allow you to take a short breather during the ride.
What should I bring?Bring water, insect repellent, sunscreen and a hat to avoid sunburn during the ride. Helmets are provided, however you may bring your own helmet if you wish. Bring a picture ID.
What should I wear?Closed-toed shoes are required. Dress in casual sports attire and for the weather- including rain gear if need be. Dress in layers during the winter months as the area will be colder. Railbike tours operate rain or shine.
Is the activity appropriate for children?All riders must be at least 6 years old, in good physical condition and able to walk a long distance.
Can I bring my camera?Yes! There are many scenic views along this trip. Plus, there is no steering and riding is hands free, making it easy to take pictures and video along the way. Please note, drones are not permitted.
What's included in this tour?This Skunk Train Rail Bike tour includes railbike rental for 2 people, helmets, a picnic lunch and refreshments. If you have any food allergies, please call the number on your e-ticket prior to your tour date.
Can I bring my own food/beverages?Yes, you may bring water and snacks with you on this experience. A picnic lunch and refreshments are included.
Can I bring my pet?No dogs are allowed on this experience.
What safety precautions are in place for this railbike trip (if any)?All railroad pedal cars will have a generous gap in between to maintain social distancing from other parties during the trip.
Will we be required to sign a waiver?Yes, all passengers are required to fill out a rail bike participant release of liability and assumption of risk agreement prior to receiving their boarding passes.
